Pretty much what the title suggests. Is there any anime that you tried to get into (through recommendations or whatever) that was just not for you? If so why?

I'm not speaking of anime that you flat out hate beyond belief, but rather the kind of anime that simply just wasn't for you.

For me a few would be things like Naruto, Fairy Tail, Cardcaptor Sakura or Highschool DxD. There's definitely more though. I think I just simply didn't care for the characters or stories that were being presented to me. That or the anime just didn't hold my attention for other reasons, so I simply might've just brushed it aside after a few episodes (or even after an entire season). I don't hate these anime nor the people who like them, I just don't really care for them you know?

I mostly ask because I recently recommended FLCL to a friend and they didn't understand why I liked it so much. It's an anime that really doesn't take itself too seriously and I guess they couldn't see the appeal. Though they liked the animation at least.

*I should note that I'm not hoping to start flame wars. If you don't like an anime that's perfectly fine. Everyone has different tastes.

Attack on Titan: I got bored reading the manga because SPOILERS it kept on having more and more side-character-turn-titans-omg! I tried watching the show but I think I should've watched it in subs.

Black Butler: Got bored and didn't like angel-lady...

Bleach: Fillers, fillers everywhere! (episode 110 was where I left off). I do want to read the manga but I'd have to go to different libraries just to read it, the volumes are scattered all over the place and it's quite annoying >.<

Naruto: I tried so hard to stick with this series but the explanations about the justus and attacks were exhausting to read, so I just gave up around volume 10-ish? I can't remember other than Naruto meeting up with another person that was a gambler. And also had the same volume problem with Bleach and Attack on Titan.

Sword Art Online: I quit when Kirito and Asuna got married. And it was boring after the first few episodes but I had hope for it...

I'm the type of person who sadly loves not-as-popular series/not-popular-anymore series...

For the love of my cat please read Bleach xD

Everyone keeps saying One Piece, just read the manga-the anime drops in quality after Enies Lobby anyway. I watched up to about episode 430 and then switched to the manga from there and was it worth it? Yes, yes it damn was.

I'm actually reading it right now ^-^ I've gotten up to the 17th volume before taking a break because I got too addicted busy

I never did understand the "Omg you never watched X?? You definitely had no childhood!!" statement. I've only ever seen the first episode of Naruto and it's one of the only shows where some people I know who still keep up with it have constantly said that I missed out by not watching it. The show simply wasn't for me so I saved myself the time by skipping it. :/

It's incredibly difficult to jump into long-running shows so it's really easy to understand why people can't get into them. Heck I struggle sometimes with getting into shows that only have 24 or 50+ episodes let alone 200 or even 500 xD

Right though? The show really wasn't for me either so I never saw the need to get into it lol. Isn't the series over anyways?

Hahaha I feel you there buddy. I started a 24-episode series a month ago and I still have yet to finish it xD

Frankly, I find it hard to get into most anime these days, as the market has become over-saturated, and most of them just aren't that good.

If I had to choose one that is very popular though, I would say SAO. It's just another anime with the same cliches from any anime, coupled with an extreme .hack scenario.

Sword Art Online: I wanted to like it, I thought the characters were terrible. Kirito was the worst.

Dragonball series: The only thing I enjoyed was the Frieza saga. Other than that, it was dull.

One Piece: Just never liked it.

Berzerk: I like the premise, but the main characters were complete clods. Everything about them was just so repelling.

You should read the Berserk manga, it's really really great. Why did you hate the characters in the anime?

As for me

Fairy Tail-Anime was bad and the manga was just...............It could have been so amazing, the concept was great but it just failed at everything. Except fanservice.

Dragonball series-Watched the saiyan episodes of Z and Battle Of Gods and that was about it. It's just boring. I don't care about anything that goes on, because I can't take it seriously.

Tokyo Ghoul-I know you said anime but... The manga was just boring and the art was ugly. I dropped it at around chapter 53, but I hear it gets great after that.

Gantz-Same thing for Tokyo Ghoul, the way they did the art on the computer just looked weird to me and it took too long to pick up.
