What Are Your Thoughts On VR Gaming?

Posted

So Sony's E3 conference got me to ask this question. I'm just curious to know what everyone thinks of VR gaming. In my opinion it seems like another unnecessary gimmick that isn't needed or wanted in the gaming world

People are just put off by the price.

My HTC Vive arrived yesterday. My computer is set up downstairs so there is plenty of space for it and my rig has plenty of power for it.

But yes the Vive is by far the most expensive way of experiencing VR but I can honestly say once it comes down in price, is definitely worth it.

I played Job Simulator and the tracking is so good you can literally walk around the game World freely and everything around you is the game world as far as the eye can see.

Looking up and seeing the sky instead of tour ceiling is weird. VR genuinely makes me feel a bit uneasy when I play it. Not nasueus just the feeling of being "In" the game and that everything is scaled to look life size is terrifying.

Even on The Lab when Gloados comes in, she's actually bloody huge! Like she's genuinely quite an imposing presence. And the tracking is so good you can get in and out of vehicles or even crawl under them.

Technically and from a "woah" factor the Vive is amazing. I just hope VR takes off the way people are hoping it will so that more actual games will come out. A lot of the stuff right now feels like glorified tech demos. Still an experience though.

Universe Sandbox in VR with full scale planets around you where you can see all the details is a really freaky experience.
