Major Spoilers for Kingdom Hearts X [chi] and Unchained X:
With the revelations that we got in the new update for Kingdom Hearts X [chi], I have heard many people say that they think that there are two people in black coats. I personally never thought of this. So, I decided to see if I could find anything that backs this up. Keep in mind that I am just doing this to see if we have gotten any hints so far. Even if we didn't, we may still get hints toward there being two people in black coats in the future, and even if we never do, that does not mean that there aren't two people in black coats.
We are told that the Foretellers do not know where the Master of Masters disappeared to, and Gula and Ava seem to back this up in the new update for Kingdom Hearts X [chi]. Therefore, every time we see one or more of the Foretellers with a man in a black coat, I think it is safe to assume that he is not the Master of Masters. Here are the times that we see one or more of the Foretellers standing with a man in a black coat:
1. The Player has a dream of the Foretellers talking with a man in a black coat, a conversation that we may have heard in the Jump Festa 2016 trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue, though this is not confirmed.
2. Ira is seen talking to a man in a black coat in the E3 2016 trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue.
3. Ava is seen talking to a man in a black coat, who is revealed to be Luxu, the sixth apprentice, in the latest update of Kingdom Hearts X [chi].
However, there are also several times in which we see a man in a black coat who is not with any of the Foretellers (that we know of):
1. During a series of quests in which the Player helps King Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Chip, and Dale, King Mickey says, "So, it wasn't the Star Shard that led me here. Hmm...What exactly is going on?" After that, the camera pans up, and we can see the feet of a man in a black coat standing on a roof.
2. Two of the three times we see a man in a black coat during the E3 2016 trailer, there does not seem to be anyone there, but we are also getting those two scenes out of context, so maybe there is and we just don't know it.
Now, since the three clips in which we see a man in a black coat also have him speaking, some people have said that his voice sounds different in the third clip, when he is talking with Ira. I personally do not think that they are different voices and that he is just speaking in a different tone. Also, if they are two different voices, they are not that different at all. So, if one of them is the Master of Masters and the other is Luxu, I personally think that it is strange and confusing that they have voices that are that similar. Therefore, I think that they are the same voice, and, therefore, the same person. However, since some people think that they are different voices, or at least that there is a possibility that they are different voices, I thought it was worth pointing that out.
Now that I have listed all of the times a man in a black coat has appeared, does any of it hint that there could be two people in black coats?
Nomura confirmed in an interview with Famitsu that the man in the black coat in the E3 2016 trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue is the Master of Masters. So, unless there actually were two different voices in the trailer, meaning that there are two different people in black coats, I think this means that Ira is talking to the Master of Masters in the E3 2016 trailer, and if it is true that none of the Foretellers know where the Master of Masters disappeared to, that must mean that he thinks that he is talking to someone else besides the Master of Masters. And the only other person this could be (that we know of) is Luxu, which means that Luxu must be possessed by the Master of Masters. Also, Ira seems to be talking to the man in the black coat in the same place where Ava is talking to Luxu in the latest Kingdom Hearts X [chi] update. So, based on that alone, I think it is safe to assume that Ira is talking to is Luxu, whether or not he is possessed by the Master of Masters.
However, from what we know so far, Luxu disappeared shortly after the Master of Masters, and only Ava has found out where Luxu is. So, either this means that Ira knew where Luxu was the entire time and didn't tell anyone, or the clip we saw in the E3 2016 trailer takes place after the latest update to Kingdom Hearts X [chi]. The only other explanation I can think of is that Ira is talking to the Master of Masters and not Luxu in the trailer, but, as I said earlier, since he seems to be talking to the man in the black coat in the same place where Ava is talking to Luxu in the latest update to Kingdom Hearts X [chi], I think it is safe to say that Ira is talking to Luxu. So, if anything, I feel like this makes me question Ira more than it makes me think that there are two people in black coats.
So, I personally think that the only time when we do not know for certain the identity of the man in the black coat is when we see the feet of a man in a black coat standing on a roof above King Mickey, which I personally do not think is a hint toward there being two people in black coats. However, that is just my opinion. Obviously, there doesn't have to be hints at there being two people in black coats in order for it to be true. So, what do you guys think?
