Square Enix have revealed, during the Nintendo Direct Mini (1.11.2018), that The World Ends With You: Final Remix will be releasing later this year with upgraded graphics, Joy-Con support, touchscreen controls, and a sizable new scenario!

You can watch the announcement below, starting at 0:19.

Last year, Square Enix had infact stated that they have an interest in porting older games to the Nintendo Switch With CEO, Yosuke Matsuda, stating that they will not rule out any IP’s for the Nintendo Switch.

It worth noting that the possibility of the previous Kingdom Hearts games coming to the Nintendo Switch is not to be completely ruled out either, according to series director Tetsuya Nomura.

Previously, The World Ends With You characters where among the first of Square Enix’s IP’s (other than Final Fantasy) to be featured in the Kingdom Hearts series. In both Sora’s and Riku’s stories in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, during the farewell scenes between them and The World Ends With You characters, there were hints pointing towards the return of the characters and Sora reuniting with them in Shibuya.

UPDATE [Jan 25, 2018]: On Januay 11, 2018, Nintendo Japan released new screenshots of The World Ends With You: Final Remix, and on January 14, 2018, the official Nintendo Tumblr account released new HQ renders for the characters Neku, Shiki, Beat, and Joshua from The World Ends With You: Final Remix. You can check out these new screenshots and character renders below:

The first mention of new in-game music for Kingdom Hearts III has been done by artist PHI from SERGE on January 2, 2018. They tweeted that they were in charge of remixing the area and battle music for a certain world in Kingdom Hearts III.

You can view the tweet here and below.

A full translation of the tweet has been provided by goldpanner.

The tweet has not been liked, retweeted, or in any way referenced by an official source, so its legitimacy is still under doubt.

Thanks to @aibo_ac7 on Twitter for the tip!

UPDATE [Jan 10, 2018]: Upon investigating the person behind PHI from SERGE, known as Seiya Iwaoka, we have stumbled upon a photo of the cover art of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue that he posted on December 1, 2017, claiming to have worked on some tracks from the game. However, he does not seem to have been credited.

You can view the post here and below, with a translation provided by KH13 staff member Mio-chan.

It was only a month ago when Utada Teruzane, Utada Hikaru's father and manager, tweeted for fans to be positive regarding Utada Hikaru's involvement in Kingdom Hearts III.

You can visit PHI for SERGE's YouTube channel here, SoundCloud here, Twitter account here, Facebook here, and Instagram here.

UPDATE [Jan 20, 2018]: Both the tweet and the Instagram post have been deleted. PHI from SERGE has also deleted his Twitter account, YouTube channel, and PHI Instagram account (@phi_dj), stating "This account is not being used. Please observe." His statement can be seen here, translated by KH13 News Team member NihonScribe.

In December 2017, Twitter users @Keytotruth, 13th Vessel, and @Xeeynamo uncovered many of the game files from Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep -A fragmentary passage- through hacking. 13th Vessel has now reported that they have uncovered "almost every model," including untextured character models for Riku in his Kingdom Hearts original outfit, Donald, Ansem the Wise and Terra; he has also found Riku's and Mickey's suitcases model. He has also found the files for Ventus and shirtless Mickey and many more, but there are no images available for those yet. In the mean time, you can view all of the assets available in the gallery below:

UPDATE [Jan 2, 2018]: 13th Vessel has uncovered the untextured character model for Terra-Xehanort's Guardian, which you can view in the gallery above. He's also found Kingdom Key, Kingdom Key D, Donald's weapon, and effects for the previously reported on Water magic, which were not viewable. Some maps and textures of models are still there even after having been deleted. For example, in the NPC folder, 13th Vessel found some folders for Daybreak Town, but they only had textures of scrapped models in them. (Note that there he didn't find any maps for Daybreak Town.)

The next step would be to find a way of seeing these textures to identify them, but 13th Vessel says that that's a very complicated task. He states that because of this, there could be many things that are scrapped that we are not able to view.

UPDATE [Jan 2, 2018]: 13th Vessel has uploaded the soundtrack's file names from Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep -A fragmentary passage- that he pulled from the game's assets. This list does not contain the game's opening song, "Simple and Clean (Ray of Hope Mix)."

You can see the list below:

The list comprises the following tracks, which can be heard throughout the game:
Always on My Mind
Dearly Beloved -Reprise-
Destiny's Force
Devil's Wave [1]
Devil's Wave [2]
Dive into the Heart -Destati-
Illusion Aqua
Hand in Hand
Bond*
Light and Dark**
Miracle
Missing You
Magical Mystery
Aqua
Sora
Terra
Ven
Dearly Beloved
Title launch***
Dark World battle theme
Dark World boss theme
Dark World field theme
Dark World field theme (Sleeping Beauty)
Dark World field theme (Snow White)
*This could be referring to the track "Destiny's Union" that plays when Terra is talking to Aqua.
**This could be referring to the track "The Key" that plays when King Mickey finds the Kingdom Key D and when he is ready to seal the door to Kingdom Hearts.
***This could be the brief music that plays when the player starts a new game.

Translations were provided by KH13 staff member Mio-chan.

13th Vessel commented that he was not able to view the soundtrack from Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover as it is a movie, not a game.

UPDATE [Jan 5, 2018]: We had another chance to speak to 13th Vessel about the NPC folders and the textures (with no models) found in them, and he explained to us, in detail, that some of the characters' models are found in folders whose names are identifiable with the code of the area those characters are seen during the game.

For instance, the untextured models for Yen Sid, Riku, Riku's and Mickey's suitcases, and Kairi, were found in folders with the code "yt" - for Yen Sid's Tower. Similarly, the models for Aqua and Terranort were found in Dark World ("dw") folders; and the models for Luxu and the box he carries, as seen in the Keyblade Graveyard, were appropriately found in a Daybreak Town ("db") folder.

UPDATE [Jan 6, 2018]: Keytotruth has uploaded an image of the model of the Gummi Ship found in the files of Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep -A fragmentary passage-.

You can see the picture below. Note that the colors were added to the render.

Back in October, 13th Vessel uploaded a couple of videos on the Destiny Islands area in Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage- using hacks and mods. You can check out more about that in the article here. What do you guys think about these assets? What else do you think we will find? Let us know in the comments below.

Famitsu has recently published a list of 107 video game creators who have participated in their New Year's questionnaire. The questionnaire asked the individuals about their key words and resolutions for 2018.

Kingdom Hearts series executive producer and brand manager Shinji Hashimoto was a participant in this report. In a brief statement, he expressed his excitement towards next year's E3 Expo.

You can read the full translation below, provided by KH13 staff member Mio-chan.

Thanks to @aibo_ac7 for the tip!

What do you make of Hashimoto's new year's resolutions? Do you think he's alluding to something big in E3 2018? Let us know your expectations in the comments!
On December 15, 2017, user Wrestleman posted two screenshots of an alleged new world in Kingdom Hearts III sourced to a Square Enix FTP server. Following this, other similar screenshots from the same world surfaced on Imgur on December 23, 2017.

Since then, more Kingdom Hearts III developer's content was made publicly downloadable from the server; they have quickly been taken down, but it is still possible to see the file names (most of them dated April and September 2017), which give away a partial list of worlds in the game.

Upon investigating the leaks, KH13.com have reason to believe these are legitimate.

However, due to ethical and copyright issues, we have decided to not report on them in detail any further.

We have created a Kingdom Hearts III Spoilers subforum where fans can discuss these leaks.

KH13.com's spoiler policy on Kingdom Hearts III allows discussion on publicly announced content (eg. trailers, interviews, promotional pictures, etc.); however, leaks are to be discussed in the Spoilers subforum only. Avatars, statuses, and thread titles must not contain spoilers. We may be revising our Kingdom Hearts III spoiler policy in the future, according to future content releases by Square Enix and Disney.

We hope that fans understand our decision and respect the work done so far by the game's developing team by not divulging the leaks where they aren't warranted.

Thank you for your cooperation.
