I haven't tried NaNoWriMo since my sophomore year in high school, and I got about 25,000 words into the story before I hit a writing block. I'd like to try again this year, since I have a pretty good story idea in my head. Probably from now until NaNoWriMo starts I'll flesh out the plot and plan out each chapter, that way I'll have a really good idea for what I'm going to write.

Take that, multiply it by 10, then throw in a lot of unnecessary friend drama that you think you'll avoid but won't, lots of late night assignments, worrying about getting into a good college, and you think it'll get better the next year but it won't. Oh yeah and you have to take the SAT's, probably more than once if you did bad the first time.

Apparently I wasn't given the handbook on how to be a good friend when I was a kid.

I think you need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and take a look at your attitude. You're not the only one that lost. Lots of people entered this contest, and lots of people didn't win. Do you see them being a sore loser and throwing a pity party because of it? No. The thing is about contests, is that you have to be good at what the contest is about. Daniel wouldn't just choose someone because they said they put a lot of effort into their entry even though there are better entries put into the contest. Because that's not fair to the others. Everyone puts effort in their entries. It takes a lot of work to get at the level that the winner (and runner-ups) are at. You just don't wake up one morning and decide to poop out art. You practice each day. You try to find your own drawing style. And the thing is, there is always going to be someone that's better than you. So instead of reacting negatively, congratulate them. Congratulate them for winning, congratulate them for the effort they put into their work, and congratulate them for the effort they put in to get to that level of skill. If you want to get better, you could even ask them for advice on how to get better. But even though you didn't win, that doesn't mean you should just throw a tantrum and try to delete your account (which you can't do, only Daniel can which I don't think he will --he never does). Don't see this as a loss, but as an opportunity. Set your goals to try and be as good as the others. Instead of giving it 100% try giving 110%. Just that little extra effort will go a long way in the long run. But don't copy their artwork or style. Try to grow as your own artist. Draw what you want and how you want. Also, if you want to get better, draw for fun and not competition. As long as you like what you create, then nothing else matters. Then maybe as you improve you'll enter a contest and win. If you do, then accept it with humbleness. Because seriously with the attitude you've got going on right now is only wrecking yourself.
