One does not simply deny how awesome she is. Admit it, you know who I'm talking about. If not, let me tell you her story. She was once a beautiful Athena priestess. That was, until Poseidon decided he felt like a creeper that day, and raped her in the steps of Athena's temple. Was Athena angry at him? Hell, no. She punished Medusa. Yes, the goddess of justice punished Medusa for being raped, because that apparently ravished her beautiful seaside temple. Athena was very... creative when it came to punishments. So, she turned her into a Gorgon, AKA this: And then, a young demigod called Perseus thought her head would be good gift for the King who wanted to force his mother to marry him. Then this happened: Bye-bye, Medusa... But, rumour has it she had a daughter and hid her before she let Perseus behead her. And apparently, all her descendants were cursed to become Gorgons like Medusa. And, oh, how creepy Google is about it! Picture above: Wonderful... And that rumour led to the making of one of my favorite book series, Gods and Monsters. Scream if you wish. It's true. Beneath every beauty, evil stirs. Anyhow, I like Greek mythology and I love Medusa. Her name means "Guardian". You see, she is awesome! And so famous she ended up being portrayed by... Uma Thurman. Beheading en route, I repeat, beheading en route! Medusa... "Man, I had work to do!" "LOL, what?" Turning people to stone is awesome! Especially if you have the power to bring them back, and they don't die until they're smashed, as happens in some stories. So... Had I mentioned Medusa is awesome? What do you think?
