  1. In just under a week, Chi's biggest event of the year will begin. Following the brief cutscene released after last week's maintenance, players from each and every union are preparing their very best keyblades, cards, and skills to deal with this month-long event where more than just daily rewards are given out. Here's a brief look at what potentially, taking clue from last year's event, we'll be seeing for the next month, following next Thursday's maintenance. First and foremost, there will be sidestory. Due to the hint given in the pre-anniversary's title, it looks to be a mirror of what happened last year - Donald and Goofy, chasing the King, crash landed in Daybreak Town and need you, the player, to collect gummi pieces to fix their ship. While it is nothing major, we did see last maintenance Mickey meet one of the foretellers, and Chirithy make a comment about knowing who the King was. Will the story unfold even more during this anniversary event? Only time will tell! Secondly, there will be (if it follows last year's, which it probably will) a gummi thruster subjugation ranking. For those new to the subjugation rankings, you need to kill as many heartless as you can in the event's time, and the more you defeat, the higher you will place. One of the other things that the anniversary event was notorious for is the booster. While sometimes you might be ranked on the base number of heartless you defeat, sometimes the heartless will drop items (in our case, gummi pieces). Gummi pieces also determined rankings last year, so it's safe to say that they will play an important role in this year's rankings. Using a booster will boost the amount collected by a certain multiplier for a limited amount of time. With last anniversary, you could upgrade the multiplier so that you could get more gummi pieces. Since more gummi pieces collected means a higher ranking overall, it is beneficial to use these boosters in a wise manner. Mapping out routes that maximize gummi thrusters defeated will be beneficial to your success in this event, so team collaboration is key in this event. For a more detailed look at booster events, please take a look at this guide published by yours truly. Although it contains information specific to the Easter event, it still has information still applicable to the upcoming Second Anniversary event. Thirdly, there will be daily log-in bonuses galore. For those not familiar with the concept, a log-in bonus is a gift given to the player every time he or she logs into the game, These are given once a day, and can range from the boosters mentioned prior to potions, ethers, boosted SR+, Yen Sids and Fairy Godmothers, and perhaps even skills or adamants. Logging in to get these bonuses are a good usage of your time, especially if you are a new player and might not have those boosted SR+ cards. Fourthly, if the Second Anniversary follows its predicessor in this regard, there will be a shop in which you can trade in your gummi pieces for rewards, and the rewards are stellar. Last year they gave away a Key Art (Key Art 15') and a Key Scene (Key Scene 5) to those players who collected enough gummi pieces to redeem them - and many, many non-paying players got them, enjoying the strength that these (normally paywalled) cards had. (I, personally, got the Key Art) Other goodies, like Raise Tickets and Sids, are also available for gummi trade-ins. Lastly, the rewards for completing the missions - both story and weekly - are fantastic. Some may think that getting X amount of gummis may seem impossible, but there are players who can (and will) get that amount. Keep beating the gummies, and you will conquer the walls that hold you back! I wish all of you players the best of luck in the upcoming month that follows, and may you all place well on the leaderboards! Feel free to comment with your strategies for this upcoming event, and what you're excited for!
  2. Chi players, the Dragon Quest crossover campaign's rewards have been distributed. Please check your Present Boxes to claim them!
  3. Obviously Kingdom Hearts has some of the better of the openings I've seen, but a few others stand out to me~
  4. In the Prankster missions, you can get an accessory - the Moogle Headband - after completing the 3rd (I think) subjugation mission. It's the mission before the beat 33 of them.
  5. You can. www.kingdomhearts.jp Keep in mind that the game's in Japanese tho
  6. Yea, I mean I'm no playing payer but I still do decent in rankings and stuff. Most (all) of the high-ranked (paying) players have all 70k cards for each deck, just so that you know. You can see my past week's LUX rankings in my signature (the blurb underneath this post). But since in this event that is currently going on emphasizes multiple keyblade decks, you might want to start by HPing/ultimizing your assists because those can be used in each and all of your decks. But really, your deck is what you want it to be. All cards can be strong, especially once Ultimization is factored into the equation. Use whatever you want is my suggestion, and if that leads you to one particular keyblade/deck, use that. One word of warning though: if you will be using Splendor, the "Beat X Heartless in one card" are extremely difficult, since your first slot isn't boosted, so you'll either need to boost your cards with a FGM or use Starlight, since it has a 2.8x (3.1x at 43) power multiplier on the first slot.
  7. For you and the skeptics out there: Also, on topic, wanted to add that clock tower should be a fun climb if we do ever get to go inside it in KH3. Looks very Hollow Bastion-y from KH1, and with the *new* engine and no loading screens and such, we might get to traverse it in one go lol. Although I'm still holding out for the clocktower to be the dungeon mode that was supposed to be implemented back in November lol (for Chi, not for KH3).
  8. If only for the music, yes! Also because there's a typewriter in the moogle shop and typewriters are awesome (please tell me others have noticed that).
  9. At level 40, there is no difference between the boosts - only when they activate (2.2+3.4 = 1.9+3.7). In addition, at level 40 and when Rock Splendor is the Advantage Keyblade, it has a better bonus if you hit the Upright/Reverse cards in the right order (+4500 compared to Lamp's +4200). Obviously, now with the level increased to 43, this changes quite a bit, giving Lamp's keyblade advantage more of a boost than Splendor's (+11000 to +10000, and 2.8/3.5 compared to 2.2/3.8). Here is an infographic that SE put out when the new levels were announced, comparing the stats at level 40 with those at 43. In short, SE nerfed Splendor with the keyblade level cap increase. People are still using it because they probably only focused on levelling that keyblade up because it was better than the others at the time, and don't have the resources to get another keyblade's deck up to the par that their Splendor's was on.
  10. Congrats! Now you can become one of us, slowly becoming stronger in vain efforts to dethrone the paying players in their quest to dominate rankings in the Second Anniversary event lel
  11. Random order over here (kinda): CoM, 358, Re:Coded, BbS, 3D, 1, 2, Re:CoM, Chi, 2.5 (although I played it at a friend's house and got barely further than awakening Sora in 2FM lel)
  12. Yeah, we don't talk much in the party chat. But when you join our team in two days, you'll be able to chat in English with our team. But you might want to introduce yourself at least in party chat (since I can let your party-mates to look in there)
  13. There is no difference in storyline between the unions, other than which union Ephemera is in.
  14. Yeah, that's the chat though. They're Japanese players, so they'll speak in Japanese. If you mean the party chat, it's the Party (パーテイ) option in the menu, in the long top row.
  15. It's on your Team (チーム) page, where you go and fight raid bosses. You can either click the Raid Boss picture on the left sidebar or click the big square thing in the center of your home page
  16. The only real difference, stoy-wise, between the unions is the Union that Ephemera is in. It's mostly an aesthetic difference, but you must be in the same union as your friends to play and party with them. There are no abilities limited to a union; it is open to all if you havr the dedication to pursue them
  17. The union you join is mainly an aesthetic choice on your part. If your friends are in one union, you should join that specific union if you want to party with them. There are rewards that you get based on which union you choose (the higher your union places each week, the better rewards you can receive in limited missions), but the rewards aren't exactly all that great (1 AP Up for beating 50 raid bosses in one week is the top reward). If you care about these rewards, don't join Anguis's union (their motif is the snake), since they place consistently in last place, at least in Chi. Also, to emphasize the point Aru made, the Katakana for the thiing you're referring to is ユニオン(yunion), which is union, not faction.
  18. Don't feel bad (to the above); it takes time to make your deck powerful! Speaking of decks, since everyone has been sharing their own, I might as well share this one~ Need to figure out two more assists and one more Upright card to ult; for the assists, one will probably be Vivi and the other will probably come from the Second Anniversary event. Saïx will be the next (and last power Reverse) that will be maxed out for this deck (after I finish Xemnas), still gotta think hard about the upright I wanna Ult~
  19. Step one: Sell your soul to Raise Draw. The boosted cards in there are super-powerful, and with a 10% chance for a SR and a 2% chance for a SR+, the time is never better lol. Personally, I would wait until the Raise Draw refreshes after maintenance so that the cards you get will be boosted for a longer time period. However, keep in mind that the strongest cards are paywalled. If you are the type of player who is willing to spend money on the game, the Kingdom and Monthly Boxes (which will be refreshed after maintenance, so don't buy them now) have 4x boosted cards, ready to be HP'ed with Sids (and other goodies) included in the box. Another thing you can do is the ticket exchange. Every day when you log in, you get the little roulette thing with the moogle, with the chance to win up to 3 gold tickets, with one gold ticket won each day as a minimum. You get bronze, silver, and gold tickets from missions and from the daily win/loss Raid Boss event. While these only get you SR cards that are not boosted (using the Gold tickets), they are far more convienent (and relatively easier to get) than Raise Tickets. Playing through missions is another way not only to get SR+ cards (especially once you hit later stories and Olypmus), but also the coveted Yen Sid SR(+), which can be used to HP your SR and SR+ cards. Also, any SR+ card can be strong in Ultimization, so once you hit that area of strengthening in your deck, ultimize the cards you like. With the anniversary events right around the corner, you'll be getting plenty of freebee boosted cards in the upcoming weeks, in addition to the potions and ethers and glorious log-in bonuses they give out. Hope this helps!
  20. (and lol you have no need to join my union)
  21. Sure, I can help. Do you need me to make you an account?
  22. Yes, that is correct. There will be maintenance on July 2nd starting at 13:00 JST, and will probably last until 17:00 JST, and after maintenance is over, there will be a story cutscene that will trigger once you enter the game as a prelude to the Second Anniversary Event.
  23. Lotsa words in the post below, so please don't try to read this in a hurry. Relax, slow down, and take your time as you meander through this~ I feel like I am kind of obligated to write this forum post on my personal first anniversary of Chi. Timezones may differ (especially in Japan, where the time is set), but where I am, it's still that glorious day where one year ago I finally overcame the evil forces of captcha and registered a Yahoo! Japan account (it took like two hours). Before I really start, I have some words of wisdom for the new players who have dipped their feet into the pool that is Chi. If you feel you do not apply, feel free not to open the spoiler. So, now onto the real article, and the real focus: what I feel has changed and has impacted gameplay. Firstly, and I feel the most important, is the continual barrage of events. When I first started playing a year ago, there was no event going on. Not one. My first event was the First Anniversary, and I had about a month before that started to become somewhat decent at the game. There were no major events, outside of story updates. The Guilt List was reasonable, with stuff that both beginners and experienced players could help each other out with. (I remember beating my first Morning Star for the Guilt List, and it only took 2 or 3 continues. I was psyched) Since I started back up in the game in November playing as a competitive player, there has been no break. Sure, some events are less stressful than others, but you're still expected to at least try for some of them. It keeps top players coming back and spending money on the game, so I guess that's how the business model is now working. Non-paying players will always suffer at paying player's hands, but now it is even moreso, although it is slighlty limited by the Ultimization factor, which leads me into my second point. Ultimization is a method to make the strong even stronger and an illusion for those who think they are strong to have strength. This was introduced when my Uni internet decided to be awful and not let me play Chi, so I was not with the leading groups competing for the highly desired SR+ Ultimate Moogles. While this may have decreased the luck-based portion of Raise Draw so that players can make any card strong, the 4x boosted cards Chi sells in their Kingdom Boxes helps those who have the assets to be strong - much stronger than a non-paying player could be. 28k of attack, defense, or HP and 2800% LUX intake is something extrodinary, and obviously paying players have decks full of these cards and cards boosted by their SR+ FGMs (giving their 70k cards a 3x boost). And since these stats will dominate the rankings, they take me to my third point, the ranking system. Every week, players collect little crystals of light. And at the end of every week, players are ranked with their peers and foes based on this number, their team's collective number, and their highest damage output, not factoring in Chain damage or the 5x bonus given at the beginning of a Raid Boss fight. While this seems good in theory, it tends to have the "haves" (eg paying players) on the top and the "have-nots" (newbies and non-payers) on the bottom. Sure, this is fine and all, but it seems a bit humiliating when a level 10 paying player not only outdamages you (as a ~230 level character) but also outranks you in LUX collection. Oh, and we've gotten to the point where an additional LUX cut might be necessary in the future. Because, you know, visual limit. So then, you might have the question, does level really matter? For non-paying players, the answer is an absolute yes. Level-ups provide AP and BP recovery, which is very incredibly helpful in beating more heartless. The HP increase and Deck Capacity ups are neligible the further you level up (you need 175 Deck Points to run a full SR+ deck (all 19 Cost cards), any more is pretty much useless unless you're a paying player, in which case you need 189 to be able to equip all the 21 Cost cards). For paying players, it matters much less the level you are, assuming you have over the deck capacity you need, since one mega-potion does the same job as leveling up. The only thing that matters - if you like the aesthetics - is the "wild" hair design at 300. The developers seem to think that level matters, so they raised the cap to 330. I want to take a final, brief moment on one of the things that is bearable in Chi - the timezone. If you're playing on a random team, chances are no one will be on when you are, unless you live over in Asia, and then the chances are high. Additionally, Chi's time is based off JST, so for people like me who don't live in it, the whole GUT and LUT situation is a challenge to handle, since it is taylored to those who live over in Japan (obviously). While I might get some good hours - I wake up to 2HRLUT - I miss out on two of the three GUTs and two (might be more) LUTs. Take into account that timezones are a thing and you'll be more tolerant (maybe) of people not showing up to a GUT or LUT. GUT and LUT is something that has not changed since I started to play the game, and I am happy that it is still something that remains in the game now. Despite every flaw I see, I still, somehow, keep coming back to Chi. My teammates are fantastic individuals (who speak English!!!), I love my cards dearly, and I tolerate the pay-to-win aspect of it (albeit barely at times). When I had no access to Chi, I was actually kind of sad that I was missing my teammates, the events, and the fun and distraction it provided. Alright, that's enough about me reminiscing about the game, why don't you go out and make some memories of your own, so that you can share them with the Chi community when you celebrate your own first anniversary? For those who have experienced these changes alongside with me (and the other older, experienced users), share your own thoughts as we approach the Second Anniversary event, and the new memories that will come in the year ahead!
