See, I think I see the problem: this can be taken 2 ways On the one hand, you've got the more well-received stuff like "what if we sent the characters to a new world but they're largely unchanged in terms of identity and personality" which is ideal for when you (the writer) don't want to do a shot-for-shot remake of an existing story On the other hand, you've got the stuff people have a problem with like "I never consumed any of the source material, but I saw a pic of the character and a clip of him doing a cool thing, so I'm gonna write a story completely devoid of relation to the source material that probably should've been its own thing instead of using the skin of an existing IP" and that's just... well, it's why we keep talking about adaptation curses

in the comics, sentry had to have his mind wiped and everyone else was also made to forget him, and the persona he took on from that point was just some random guy named bob. why he had to have all that done could be spoilers for the movie (even though it's been a thing in the comics for years now but whatever) certainly not! it'd be for a crisis on infinite earths movie this is like, the culmination of all the multiverse stuff, if speculation is correct. the storylines with the same names in the comics basically smashed all the multiverses together and created a new one from the ashes entirely possible that that was a goodbye, and this'll be a "let's shit on that by killing them, loooool" (though probably less likely if their chairs are there with everyone else's) (also unlikely to just be cameos ala the various earths in the flash)
