I think the soullessness comes more from the fact that this is a film executives wanted rather than a film audiences, critics, or directors wanted. Based on everything i know about Wish, its very existence seems like a failed attempt at damage control. It feels like Disney desperately attempting to win back fans without actually understanding what fans want. Wish was supposed to be the ace in the hole that saved Disney from a troubling year, and look where it ended up. So, I deduce that the reason being the quality is incompetence. Fire the writers, fire the producers, fire everyone who had anything to do with this movie! Burn it all down and start over! The Disney I know would never have DARED make something like this!
