He's not comparatively as important as Riku, Kairi or Roxas.

Plus he's not really a hero anyways.

Blue eyes are cool in Japan. Also Riku's eyes are green. Although, honestly, it's hard to tell since he's been drawn with both colors.

 

Also, Ansem has orange eyes, and he's a main character.

Their eye color has nothing to do with whether they're a main character or not. If a character has gold/yellow eyes, that means their heart has succumbed to the darkness. Take Braig as an example, at the beginning of Birth by Sleep he had dark blue/black-ish eyes, then at the Keyblade Graveyard they were yellow, which carry on to his nobody. Another example being Terra at the end of the Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix secret trailer. Blue eyes just mean their heart hasn't given into the darkness, or it's just the neutral eye color, seeing as how most characters have blue eyes.

I wouldn't say his eyes aren't green, more like an aquamarine. But that's just me being picky.

Yeah, I noticed. It didn't surprise me though.

 

Sora(Japanese Word) = The sky, the color of the sky at daytime(Lightblue)
