I can't believe that jabbing really hard at the screen with a joycon and applying a lot of pressure on the kickstand makes the system fall over! I just cancelled my pre-order, this is a serious design flaw. Get your crap together, Nintendo.

I don't see myself using the kickstand anyway, so I personally don't care about this, but you are right. This is a serious design flaw. Kickstand should be adjustable to more angles and be stronger. At least when the kickstand "breaks" you can easily put it back on. So they thought of that much.

It's not really that bad, CNET's just trying to find a way to get clickbait off of a popular product. They were either putting way too much pressure on the kickstand or trying to damage the system for the video; everything they did is something no one would seriously do, and they're the only ones to comment on the kickstand being "bad." They might as well say that pulling the disc drive out of a console prevents it from reading discs and call that a design flaw.

Of course no one would do that on purpose, but let's say for the case of an accident. If it really does get knocked over easily, it's a bit of an issue. One angle for the kickstand is another thing, but Nintendo aren't the first who made this mistake.

If it happens once on accident, you can just easily set it back up like normal. If it frequently fell over that would be an issue, but you have to put a ton of pressure on it or actively try to knock it over judging from CNET's video. Having more angles would also be nice, but the one it has looks fine to me. I can't speak from personal experience on that one yet, but I don't think that having just one angle's that big of a deal. There's always the option of plugging the joycons into the sides and using it like a Wii U Gamepad, too.

To be fair, they do it deliberately for testing purposes, but it's unlikely it will ever be knocked over unless you put it close to the edge of the desk which is pretty careless. I would personally use it like a regular console or if I want to play on my bed or when someone else wants to use the TV, I could just use it like a Wii U gamepad like you said. One angle would be a deal breaker depending on how you look at it. Desk heights and stuff like that, but for a console, it shouldn't be an issue.

They do it for testing purposes, but they made a misleading video saying that it's always this bad. I'm planning on using tabletop mode when I'm at school or away at other places, and I guess that the heights would be an issue, but I don't think it'll be that bad.

The video blatantly said that it doesn't happen all the time, just that each of the things shown in the video were things that happened one time or another while they were using it. And the kickstand does look really flimsy and poorly balanced, I've been thinking that since Nintendo announced it last year.

Of course, neither of us have a Switch yet so it's not really feasible to judge it one way or another. But I'm very inclined to believe the people who have been using it and have familiarity with the thing.
