Malware in the video downloads?

Posted

I've been wanting to download some of the videos in the video archives, but my computer's security system has warned me that the site and the videos have spyware and viruses on them.

I just want to know if anyone has gotten anything like that from downloading one of the videos.

It could just be over-reacting or something, but I'd like to know before I download.

Oh, and my security system is McAfee Total Protection, just in case it's been known to mark sites as dangerous when they aren't, or something like that. xD

Mine always says "traffic from..." "malware..." "blocked..." but whenever I download the videos, my computer's always fine. I do the virus scan and everything. Nothing ever shows up. I think as long as you have a decent security system you'll be fine.

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials, and have never gotten any sort of warning, sorry.

I do, but, then again, I get the message anytime I try to download ANYTHING. Stupid McAfee...

Yeah, this site, including the video downloads, definitely have NO malware. Antivirus programs are generally awesome and report false positives however, I've already had to contact McAfee and get them stop reporting us. If any antivirus wrongfully reports us as unsafe, please give me a screenshot and copy of the error so that I can contact them and get it resolved. Thanks a lot.

i use kaspersky, i've never had a problem.

i think it's just over-sensitive security programs which say you computer will explode at just downloading a non-text-only document

Yeah that program doesn't seem to like kh13 much.

Avast reckons their all perfectly fine.

Oops, I probably should have said that it was doing that on Mediafire. >.<

It hasn't done this ever on this site, but it does it all of the time on there.

It's still saying there's malware on Mediafire and in the downloads though.

Warning

Site report 1

Site report 2

Download warning

But thanks for letting me know it is safe to download you all. =)

Well as I don't own mediafire.com, I can't do anything about that. However if you read it, it says "this is reported unsafe blah blah, based on our users". So basically anyone can just go and report a site as "unsafe", and if enough people do it, it ends up on their list.

The point is, it's completely safe.

Alright then. Thanks. =)

I know this is off-topic, but I find it completely ironic that there's an ad for McAfee at the bottom of the thread's page. xD

I have the same ad xD

I had McAfee. It failed and my whole computer got crashed. I'm not sure what I use now. xD My dad set it up.

Alright then. Thanks. =)

Ad's a lot of the time reflect to whats on the thread.

I've made a thread about Google Chrome before and a Google Chrome ad appeared on the page.

well i think thats just more of a coincidence.

i think i may have an ad blocker, because banner ads don't appear, but i don't remember activating one...

maybe it came with kaspersky
