Can you explain further, I'm not sure I understand

xionsmug Please be excited

Okay so, basically KH3's basic premise, and what was absolutely necessary for it in terms of plot was for it to bring back the lost wielders and defeat Xehanort (which it did)

However, after so many games between KH2 and KH3 where the overall focus felt small (I would count BBS as an exception here) I'd say it was necessary for KH3 to invoke a similar feeling to KH2 rather than the side games.

What I mean by this is to have the world of KH feel larger than it is. By having these characters interact in a more personal manner really helps to make the player feel that Sora is impacting on them and it makes it feel more lived in

By feeling, I think it's better to give examples here, for example Days has you play as Roxas and you see the plot almost solely through his eyes, and your entire world revolves around a castle and a tower. It's a good story, but very focused. In fact it's the perfect side story, as it works in tandem with KH2. Recoded revolves entirely around Disney Castle, and the fact that you're in a data simulation is constantly reinforced, meaning that the scale feels incredibly small.

KH1 on the other hand, even if it may feel a bit lonely, does feel huge and mysterious.

Too long

Tldr pls

:moon2S:

Oh let's read this first

Tl;dr it's all about how you feel

laughsinnomura

KH3's story is like this because of the side games, that's why it has a similar feeling to them. Same way KH1 had it's own just like KH2, KH3 did the same thing

It didn't have to be though, is what I'm saying. It would have struck a better chord with me if it wasn't so laser focused on delivering just what was necessary. Especially as its a console game.

If anything it should have a much larger scale

I mean Days and BbS never made me feel all that lonely.. Roxas has the Org members between missions

And BbS trio had some people they could talk to

I counted BBS as an exception

Yes, very small focus

Re:Coded and DDD are the only side games, outside of.. CoM kinda, that are basically reinforced as lonely experiences

Although DDD definitely was better than KH3 in this respect, as a 3ds title it handled its extra plot outside of the tower nicely

CoM is firetrucking brilliant

Then again, CoM literally has you visited by the matching trench coat loser squad every floor.. ah

And it's not about loneliness exactly per se, it's about the feeling the games invoke in you. KH3 definitely would have benefitted from an extra 20-30 hours, most of which should have been original worlds

You should describe the feeling part here, because I don't get it

I can get behind that, or at least a few more.

KH3 def needed more time
But at the same time that could have also been a detriment

Are you talking about character interactions or just how the story was told?

Filler is definitely not inherently bad

And the "feeling", well how do I explain

Jacob stated it best

"KH2 definitely had more characters involved. Getting it a less lonely atmosphere.

I’d say the battle at Hollow Bastion in KH2 is good example of what I mean. "

Yeah, this doesn't answer my question yet

KH3 had the UX scene with the Devil tornado that made me feel hype

That made me feel things

It was grand

And it gave me the same feeling that Hollow Bastion did

Alright, let me try to explain

First off KH3 felt really reigned in overall because there was nothing really present in the game that indicated that there was more than what was present.

I.e KH3 was exactly the sum of its parts, just like the side games. Nothing felt bigger than what was already there. Of course the rest of this post is all based on my personal feelings so this could be different for you, but I should probably try to express myself completely anyway.
