SE making a Disney Game

FF characters came later, but were never meant to be a focus

It's why the KH1 FF cast only superficially resemble their namesakes

They were just kinda thrown in with base character traits in place of OCs

Aerith wasn't even meant to be there, she was originally gonna be the girl from Parasite Eve

As the series went on they cut back on their presence to highlight the original characters and world more. In KH1 they were pretty much just set-dressing, and KH2 needed to follow up on what they had been up to. But after that it was just kind of whatever

We know that Leon was planned to be in KH3 but he was cut for time, along with the Fairy Godmother. Then they along with Aerith, Yuffie and Cid were added into the Re:Mind DLC for cameos

And odds are they won’t even get that much in KH4

Hopefully they phase more of the disney out over time too. I mean is Mickey going to keep being central to the plot with KH's closed and stuff?

KH is Disney

It’s literally a Disney game, so no there’s always going to be a strong Disney presence

They can't really phase it out lol

It's what it is

KH also loses a lot of it's appeal and charm without Disney stuff

That's unfortunate but I'm sure I can endure for the cooler square enix parts and the unreasonably good combat system

A large component of the hype cycle of any KH game is what Disney worlds we are going to

Well there are cooler disney worlds and less cool disney worlds

There is Nightmare before christmas, pirates, alice in wonderland versus frozen, little mermaid, tangled, etc

But it is more of a kids game anyway so I guess I shouldn't comlpain too much

idk man, having to question your entire existance

is a pretty dark theme for a kids game

The game may appeal to kids, but the story definitely isn’t for them lol

KH games are thematically dark and have dark elements, but they are at their core kids games

Yes kingdom hearts does seem like the mystic form of square enix sometimes

They are made to appeal to kids

A lot of us got into KH as kids, around KH1/KH2 which has Sora commiting suicide, and then him going on a genocide against people trying to be people again. Not to mention CoM which is gaslighting:the game

huh com really is gaslighting the game

Media accessible to and made in mind for kids can still be dark, while at the same time appealing to people older than the age on the box

If you die you become heartless, that's all you need to know about kingdom hearts

It’s fun for the whole family. Disney characters and particle effects for the kids, moral dilemmas and murder for the adults

Ehhh not entirely how it works

KH appeals to people who grew up with the franchise, but KH3 is no darker than KH1 at a core. The darker themes are things that kids still understand and can recognise as dark, without ever veering into straight up not for kids entirely

Yeah there's a liiiiiiittle more to kh than that
