and he was still trapped in the RoD until he and mickey slowly made their way out thanks to Diz

also tbh escaping the realm of darkness was never a problem for keyblade wielders who had the means of escape at their disposal.

it was diz disguised as ansem

because he was training riku to understand how to beat his darkness

Diz did some stuff to get him out and helped guide mickey out

he was keeping tabs on both of them

since before KH 1

well more so mickey before kh1

then riku during it

this was in the ansem reports from kh2

Not artificial realm of darkness, artificial kingdom hearts.

It was in the real realm of darkness.

Darkness was consuming those worlds after all.

And worlds go to the realm of darkness when darkness takes them.

so essentially diz found riku as he drifted from the realm of darkness to the realm between

DiZ at that time had access to the dark corridors so it wouldn't have been hard for him to literaly just nab someone from the RoD directly tbh.

Like Ansem SoD did for him.

then mickey just kinda was guided from RoD by diz to the castle

sorta going in and out of the two realms for most of rikus journey

Poor aqua, no one really knew she was stuck there for a decade, then mickey had to deal with all the shit from KH 1 and 2 before he could even think about going to save her

even after that he himself had no real way of getting back there at the time

okay so you know has xehanort can basically teleport and manipulate time and space thanks to young xehanort

they know they can use his heart as a gateway to his past thanks to him being so adept in time magic and spacial distortion

xehanort can essentially do everything ansem, xemnas, and to an extent young xehanort can do

you know how riku could dive into soras nightmare in kh DDD

thats what sora, donald and goofy did to xehanort

they dove into his dream and forced him to come with them

do you get all the "weights" from Data Battles? they are not even giving that "great" boost they promise >.<

yes you get all of them from the data battles. and they are Best in Slot because resistance and defense become useless the better you are at the game

You know what limitation they need to bring back? Summons/links only being available if you have 2 or more party members

Because links being allowed on soras own is bizarre

Links wouldnt be available in data fights that way

Nor would they be available with yozora

Yeah the finale was honestky the most tightly written thing with kh3

The only thing thats actually not executed well is xehanort explaining why he did all of this

Yeah his lines make more sense in the jp version

Yeah he is shown doing the balancing stuff

His plan in bbs was honestly explained best

Which we saw the beginning of in Remind

He found darkness necessary fir the heart just as much as light, but cowering in it makes the people weak

"Darkness cannot be controlled, it can only be channelled"

His dream of becoming a god to the worlds and rewriting the imbalance present was always there through the goals of his predecessors as well

The original ansem i found to be somewhat ambivalous of xehanort

So driven by darkness he actually accepted the name ansem to throw away the old him

Xemnas in alot of ways doing the same

I still think that xehanort was not fully in control of ansem and xemnas' actions back in kh 1 and 2

Ansem kinda developed that attitude post DDD because of his final defeat by riku

He realized at this point his powers were no longer applicable to the more matured and stronger heroes

Xemnas and xehanort are alot like sora and roxas

If i remember correctly they said he woke up with no memories of his past life when he was made at some point
