My friend beat it in 30 hours without doing the side stuff

Death and life is a huge huge part of FF7, and the compilation in general

Oh it definitely is

The lifestream plays a huge part in it

But the additions they made don't take it away

At least not yet

Who knows how it's going for the future, but right now I think they have done a fairly well done job

I mean, there's

Briggs and maybe Wedge

surviving, but depending on what they do with that in the future I think it's fine

They were more or less nobodies in the og, this game gave them actual characteristics to remember them by

Just off the top of my head, Zacks death for Cloud, Tifa's parents death and how it first drives her to go to Mt Nibel (where she almost dies) and then later on when her dad died and she loses it again, and right in the opening hours of FF7 there's the avalanche members deaths. And of course Aerith but that's not even anything about right now

There's also Cloud's mom that the remake showed more of

So they should have absolutely died this time around too, it takes away the impact even MORE that they survive

The guilt the characters feel from their deaths, and that Barret feels for causing deaths for blowing up the reactors drive their character development

Ehh, they are fully fledged characters now. I don't mind them being alive so long as what they are used for in the future still counts to something

Barret doesn't know they are alive, except Wedge

I dont see how that helps though

It helps because the guild he felt is still there

Because he will eventually find out they're alive

Yeah but what about the player? Any lasting impact it might have had is taken away

Or there might be something different that happens and they won't ever do it

I still felt the impact, and I was surprised some of them survived

But also happy

Because I wanted to see more of them

I still think it takes a lot away from the original themes

It feels cheap to me

Especially after seeing the ending

Yes we don't know what's gonna happen, but seeing that they've already let minor characters survive, why wouldn't they do it for major ones

Because they haven't changed any major stuff yet. I can get being worried but I am not going to be all negative about that option either

If they do some major changes then that sucks

And all I can hope for then that it's good

Personally I don't think they have the future story set in stone yet

It seems like they just wanted to reference the compilation and do it in an eye catching way

I still think they are going to follow the same story that the og did. But just like this part, they will add stuff around it more.
