he's most likely dead. Cloud has his sword, there's no reason for him to be alive. The remake might change how he died, but he's still dead

 

Well, remake can be a subjective term

Call it Final Fantasy 7 2020 if its gonna change everything

but it didnt change everything

you start and end in the same spot with the remake

And we weren't lead to believe there would be such a large departure from the original, it seemed from the interviews and such it would be minor changes

From what i see so far
The basic core plot is gonna be the same
but with a handful of differences here to make it different than a 1:1 telling
