I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

It's like they looked at 06 and thought "hmm well clearly it's not the deadlines, and crunch that are wrong with the game- it's that big cast of characters and us telling too serious stories! Let's just scale back on originality and only tell 'goofy self aware stories', that's what the people want."

=)

in fairness, they didn't do that untiI 06

it's as if they took that as some sort of caII to totaIIy rebrand

oh god

You’re assuming the fandom actually knows what it wants. From an outsider, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

kinda true tbh

Like ok I get it, no humor is bad and too much humor is bad, that's obvious. The problem is there's no balance

we're pretty fIexibIe

I would argue Sonic fan base isn't as self destructive as Pokemon

Pokemon's fan base is literally the exact same song and dance every gen every time lol

People give Sonic games a chance usually, and some even retroactively get vindicated- like Uleashed! Or Black Knight

And then immediately regret giving a chance

Pokémon tho, every time

"Ughhh this gen sucksssss all the starters suckkkkkk the regions are the same it all suckkkks"

Then the game comes out

8/10

9/10

8.5/10

"Omg best Pokémon game in years"

honestIy, yeah
Sonic games Iiek UnIeashed and Forces, whiIe not perfect at aII* they're stiII at Ieast *trying new things

at Ieast to SOME extent they stiII take risks
not in writing or visuaIs but in setting at Ieat

I can only give so many points to ambition. An idea is only as valid as its execution.

pokemon just saw how disappointed peopIe were in Sw/Sh's underwheIming ending story
that they set the next game with you as a damn eIementary schooI kid

That's one thing I've always lived about KH, Nomura refuses to give you the exact same game twice lol

*loved

even the KH1 repeats are compIeteIy different in terms of gamepIay to each other

I mean, the reason Pokémon doesn’t change is because they know it works. Why fix what isn’t broken? Not convenient but it’s the truth.

Also a big reason I like it

And if something flops, Nomura doesn't just pretend it doesn't exist, he either builds on what worked and or didn't and or makes reference to it

Kojima used to be like that too

But every metal gear solid after 2 played it way safer imo

Hell, 3D’s Drop system was a direct response to fans not liking the multiple play throughs in BBS

that's true
the Pokemon formuIa is very stabIe, and enjoyabIe

but
even beyond that, 0 risks taken with expanding upon things in simpIe ways such as:
voice acting 😱
actuaI good graphics 😱
unique animations per pokemon 😱

reaIIy????

wow.

that's actuaIIy reaIIy cooI IoI

ngI l kinda wish BBS Iet you switch campaigns anytime too

sometimes?

with nomura he creates what he wants and he knows we'II Iike it

...mostIy.
