I'm trying to imagine the last time they've even done a pure fantasy game like this- even the first 6 had like some tech elements in it- the airships and flying cities/castles here and there

FFX was kinda close I guess but it was rooted in South and East Asian architecture

I’m with Daz on this one. Games have been doing medieval settings since 1983. If FF is going to do it AGAIN, they better have a damn good justification.

the medieval part that looks a little bit more generic is probably only the start of the game. expect some crazy things in mid and lategame
