The UI does what it needs to, it gives you the information you need

But it sticks out sorely

you can be both informative and styIish
though honestIy, I have no idea what they couId've done instead
FF games have reaIIy spotty battIe ui, most are just basic fonts aIongside basic bars of heaIth IoI

It doesn't really have a proper theme to it, it doesn't fit in with the menu either

There is a health bar, limit bar, the eikons, the dog commands

in terms of Iooking on-par with the pause screen's ui I mean
though tbh even that's mostIy just basic rectangIes with icons
it does the job, but that's about it

So that's all good, it's just the way it looks sticks out compared to the world, especially with how bright they are

with this one skill that buffs your axe with frost damage

XVI has the same but they somehow made it possible to include it in combos
