Because, and this is just my own personal analysis, PC gamers have a subconscious hate to the idea of quote, "mult platform", and many infact love/don't care that Valve has a monopoly on PC gaming, similar though not exactly to AMD with their chips and PC parts.

So when they see Epic, lets pretend the epic store and launcher had none of the problems they do; they see it as it being too similar to those pushes up glasses and raises nose and snears Console peasants.

They see the unification of PC gaming on ONE place as the future and most optimal gaming experience; that's why a lot of folks really* hate the Epic option, imo.
