Kingdom hearts on the Nintendo switch

Posted

Hi

What do you think about the new kingdom hearts (cloud version) on switch (not release yet)

You think this will be worth the price of this or not?

And do you think you would buy it?

its hard to get hyped for a game that will kick you to the title screen if the wifi goes out in the middle of an epic boss fight. even if it is one of the best series ever

I really can't see this being worth the price. It's obviously an inferior way to play the games compared with the experience on any other platform which doesn't require a stable internet connection and yet it's also one of the priciest way to play the games.

I do really love the series but more and more the series is feeling like a hollow cash-grab.

I was let down when the news first dropped about the port and that it was going to be a cloud version, mostly because quality, stability, and responsiveness tends to be hit or miss with these things unless you have very good connection (sometimes even then). If it weren't for what are apparently storage constraints, I would've preferred them running natively on the hardware.

That being said, I would've only liked it for the portability anyway - even then, I'm not a fan of playing action games with joy-cons. The PC versions are technically definitive, while the PS and Xbox version have trophies/achievements to add some replay value for me personally. Not interested in the cloud port myself, and not worth the price imo. If it were my first time playing the collection, I would prefer to buy used copies of the PS4 or even PS3 versions over it.

I'm all for a portable version of the series but if what is said above is true that it will require an internet connection to function I'm out. That is needless instability and limitation of use.

The thought that I could be booted out of a difficult boss battle and lose progress in an instant due to a wifi outage which are not the most uncommon thing in this house is a huge turn-off.

Regardless, although a portable handheld series set would be nice, I don't need it. I have the entire series and all except II and III twice since I have their original releases as well as both .5s and 2.8. The one exception which I don't own a single copy of is Melody of Memory. Rhythm games are not my thing so I'm passing on that one.

I won't buy it because I don't see the point since I already have all the games on the PS4 Pro. That's just my opinion though.
