When games like God of War still sell insanely well just being on one platform then it was never about exclusivity but the game.

KH4 is also gonna sell significantly more than every previous game. My expectation is that it will outsell KH3 lifetime sales week 1

I have been saying that the 7R's are good games but the way the handled the story in the first part is what's biting them in the ass, not exclusivity

Like to this point, look at FF's 7-10

Those sold millions on Playstation only

Sure 7 helped boost the series

But that only carries you so far

another issue with FF is that people are glazing the ps1 games too hard

I think ppl are completely delusional about the size of the franchise. FF sold like what 200+ million in general. A lot of these sales aren't just the ps1 games

well yeah, you said it yourself its the whole franchise with the majority being from the MMO because of its nature being about that and just its success in general

we need to stop comparing single games from the 90s with what the entire franchise is

I wasn't doing that I was saying, in a vacuum, objectively, FF from the period of 7 through 12 sold a lot

So did 13 and 15

But those are significantly more contentious titles- and saw diminishing returns

SE is doing rn everything right with the franchise. They had an insane collab with MTG, they are going multiplat, they have a turn-based FF game now that got a surprising amount of hype for a 2DHD game.

FF11 does well

Evercold looks great

Now they just need good writers!
