They leave the plane to acquire hearts in Sora's universe and them going there explains why the realm of darkness in KH exists. Technically they still come from the realm of darkness but now there's another realm. The KH universe characters just think it comes from the realm of darkness because they haven't explored the astral plane[/spoiler] idk if this is the right word for retcon

Well for one thing, we have zero context as to what is actually going on or what the rules even are

Second, the game is cancelled so I feel like any speculation on retcons should wait until KH4 is out because there is a big chance all of this is just scrapped out

[spoiler]My theory for the next story arc is that the astral plane is the plane where Kingdom Hearts resides in. The place where the concepts and ideas for all universes are getting forged. And to defeat darkness the MoM pretty much wants to destroy the idea that light and darkness exist. [/spoiler]

[spoiler]my guess is the intro cinematic is the first time where they enter the astral plane so they use keyblade armors to protect themselves from darkness and during the process they find Quadratum[/spoiler]

it's why I am so curious when exactly this cinematic happens

he just cares about the rule of cool

And I feel like if it was KH4 the leaker would just say it is, no reason to say its from ML if its not the case
