Trailer Keyblade (Flowing Edge/Lava Slash) candidates: Hercules: theres a lava and ice titan, but this is water not ice. also, a keyblade would not be based on them if it was a Hercules keyblade and would instead be something more thematic of the film. Plus they wouldn't tease a keyblade for a returning world (especially one already with a keyblade design), which eliminates any previous world in KH. Atlantis: Underwater city, theres a very short escape sequence where lava is coming up near the end. But a keyblade on this world would based on the Atlantean aesthetic or the steampunk-ish style of the explorers. Not this. Elemental: Elements water and fire are center stage, but its more so fire than lava. Strong candidate but eliminated based on lava. Moana: There are both water and lava entities that appear, from the sea and lava. The movie has no other iconography or style or themes to base a keyblade off of. Tattoos would not make for a keyblade. Conclusion: Its 100% Moana and theres no more debate to be had. Which in my opinion sucks because skimming through the movie again, there is zero interesting locations or aspects to put in a video game level and explore. Theres a featureless beach, the crabs nondescript cave, and then the remaining 90% of the film is on a raft at sea. Ignoring a conversation of the quality of the film itself, its more character driven and less spectacle or interesting locale. The Rock will not do the game. From a game design standpoint this is a bad level choice and will be the Arendelle of KH4. But just like Arendelle, it will be in due to marketing/promotional reasons.
zero interesting locations?
I would capitalize the period if it existed.
I mean sure its mostly ocean but, itd be like Carribbean- you'd have Moana's island surely, and maybe Tamatoa's cave
Maui had his island too
The Caribbean has pirate towns like Port Royal and pirate ship battles. It's not as simple as "there's an ocean".
Imo a Moana world would play like a tiny Wind Waker
Something something too much water IGN
There i made the joke so no one has to.
Im sure the KH dev team would come up with interesting things to do in the world we've seen how creative they are
what if it's moana AND moana 2
I think one can love a movie and understand it doesn't make for a good video game level. Tony Hawk games excelled and were popular because you could make any sort of location into a skate level. You can grind on things, and the board is not attached to you therefore you can do both grab moves, flip moves, or other things. The reason surfing games failed is because every level is just waves and theres way more limitation to what you can do in a video game with that. Likewise snowboarding is downhill and the board is attached, so less trick variation. SSX did it right focusing more on extreme exaggeration of physics and score. Some things translate better to games than others. Hercules, Nightmare Before Christmas, Aladdin, Tron, Alice in Wonderland - these are killer locations to give players a chance to explore and interact with. Moana, Zootopia, Lilo & Stitch (Hawaii), 101 Dalmations, The Aristocats, Ratatouie, and arguably Frozen and Tangled to a degree dont have much to translate into a game
Thats my two cents.
Ratatouille could work if we get smaller, can explore an entire restaurant, storage, kitchen, dining room, backyard...
with some imagination you can make anything work, moana seems easy, kh3 caribbean was mostly original stuff, but redoing the same kind of world would be lazy
I think many people confuse "I like this movie" with "This movie would make for a good level in a video game"
i want the series to end before i turn 60
I think Lilo & Stitch is one of the best Disney movies of all time, it's in my top 3. But I wouldn't want a Lilo & Stitch world (Hawaii) for the same reasons as Moana, at least not when there are better level candidates out there. It's just Hawaii. Beaches and houses. I remember playing BBS for the first time being kind of disappointed they did the spaceship instead of Hawaii, but from a game design perspective that allowed more room for level design and creativity. Still wasnt a great level but probably better than a beach and...the Luau place? Lilos house?
I read a comment on another site saying it could be what the Build system refers to, combining things to build a custom keyblade. Which is strong possibility I hadnt thought of. Would make sense to not so deliberately show a keyblade that only realistically ties to one movie and spoil that surprise.
Im not coming at it from a sense of loving the film its trusting the dev team thats all
I didnt mean you it was just a general statement
Wow mid 20s so you’re like a millenial
Oh no that's when I went back- I'm 30's now brother lmao
