Like they have this plot point that Torgal is

the protector of Shiva or whatever. So when she almost died he unlocked his powers. But then at every moment in the game he is always with Clive. He followed Clive to Phoenix Gate, he went with Clive after they found Jill, and he constantly tries to protect Clive.

We never see this with Jill

Yeah, it's a real shame. Like it got to the point where the game feels like it is going out of its way to under-write Jill 😂

You know?

This issue could have been kinda solved if

Clive got Shiva's powers earlier in the game

but even then that would just be a band aid

Like when people are having emotional.moments and she's just standing there like

YEAH

She is never allowed to be a character except one moment in the game

She is either just there or to console Clive

Her one moment in the game was really good so I am happy on that front

But boy I wish she got something else after or before that

And

the scene on the beach

was like so genuinely well done and beautiful

But after that her character agency falls flatter than a pancakes ass.

I wish that moment did something for me

It's written beautifully don't get me wrong

It just doesn't land for me because of how Jill is as a character

I'm a sap so, ya know, a little

romance

always makes me go awwwww but, I get you.

I felt similar as I was watching but, I just let myself get immersed

Even at the time I was like "Well this is the rest of the development she's getting in this game lol" I could just tell.

I think another huge missed opportunity for her, and this one goes for Clive too

 

the 5 year timeskip

 

It's so pointless

timeskip

but when it happens

 

Why in the hell do we just skip over Jill and Clive not seeing what Kupka did, and also not see how Clive becomes a leader?

 

Mmhm.

Honestly everything before the 5 year time skip felt like a playable flashback.

I get what you mean

The sidequests become slightly better, and that's when hunts become a thing too

And they explain everything but I'd think a more compelling story would be doing the game as it is, but, it's about Clive becoming a leader and earning his name.

 

I thought “ah time to fap”

 

Instead of "time skip Clive is Big Boss now" and then boom, Medieval Outer Heaven.

But in all honesty I was constantly sending pics to my wife of the scene, being how beautiful it is

i haven't read the spoilers cause I'm not done but i do already agree that jill is wasted potential. I've heard cbu3 had the same issues with female characters in 14 as well too so i guess it's just their thing which sucks

I think early FF14 had that issue

But because there are so many expansions they all did get fleshed out eventually

But because this is a new mainline game, and according to the interviews the only game for this one, this is all Jill will get

And ya know people always point to Square and they're like "hur dur they's'a bad at-a da writing of the female characters" but they HAVE some of the beat female characters in the history of this sport.

16 does not reflect that is all lol
