I am looking forward to

Saferoth at least

I like the idea of him and Jenova

representing the a facet of meta narrative that makes sense to him- yes he's used too much but there's genuine mystery about him that I'm still engaged in. He IS better in OG, firetruck he's better in CC, but his mysteries I'm still intrigued by.

At least that will be different

I wrote a big old thing about that to a friend of mine but yeah, I like this version of Sephiroth- don't love him, but I like him.

I can copy paste if your curious?

I don't really care for the meta narrative. I hated it in remake and I still hate it here

Yeah do it

But you know spoiler tags

There's so much Rebirth gets right

I do have some small issues here and there on some moments

But I genuinely do love this game

It's just that stupid firetrucking ending being a confusing mess that hurts it so much

And it's not like I hate new additions or anything

LIke with Remake I do love some of them

Roche's introduciton is something I loved in Remake and I firetrucking loved everything about him here

I genuinely got more sad about Roche being gone than Aerith being kababbed or not

They write the characters great here but the overall payout of why they on this journey

firetrucking sucks

how couId you be sad about

aerith'd death

you're given

no time to think about it, not during the fight nor after it

(There's some thoughts on Aerith and Tifa too but it services my thoughts on Seph and Jo)

||It started with i was listening to the boss theme for her on the battle ship. I didn't get a good chance to hear it during the battle so, I wanted to get a good listen.

I noticed the opening sounded like a heart beat in ways, and I've been thinking; 7 OG- we fought Jenova's Birth, Life, Death, and Synthesis.

Synthesis is the combination of something.

Well, in Remake we fight Jenova Dreamweaver; I always wondered about this fight contextually cause, it does not exist in the original, and "Dreams" is an interesting way to start.

The Jenova on the ship is called Jenova Emergent; quote, "in the process of coming into being or becoming prominent."

Which is fought where we we would have fought Jenova Birth. Plus the word emergent give the face-value recollection of the word "emerge."

I think Jenova and Sephiroth represent a combination of dreams, escapism, and reality. This isn't a new idea we've talked about it before- but, I think Sephiroth, in a metacontextual and in context with the games lore, is utilizing Jenova, and whatever else he's cooking up to escape from yhe dream, to become something new; the "dream" is FF7 itself. Now i don't know if obviously we fight Jenova in the Forgotten City like OG, but there's a consistent theme of Sephiroth speaking to Cloud- not as if he's just trying to get him to turn to his side, but like he's trying to "wake him up" from something.

In short, this* Jenova, and *this Sephiroth are representations of reality, but unlike other examples of the idea used in things; characters meant to teather and pull other characters to and from reality, they're a darker, cruler twist on it- instead of an objective reality, it's their own idea of reality.

In fact this logic, since I'm already here, leads me to an interpretation I've had about Tifa and Aerith for a long time that I don't think I've ever brought up-||

1/2(?)

This game really should have ended on North Crater

as then you actually do get Sephiroth's rebirth (title drop) and you can just do whatever the firetruck you want with the multiverse here if you need to

I just don't know how advent children would work after all of this really

||Strictly in the context of OG, I think Tifa represents Cloud's hopes and dreams, his fantasy's of being a hero manifest in her, the childhood best friend.

Aerith however, represents reality, or rather, The real world. She does not feed into Cloud's delusions (she cannot, natrually as she doesn't know him), but she also see's through him.

"I'm trying to find you." She says on her Gold Saucer date.

By Sephiroth taking Aerith away from him, it serves as one of the final catalysts for waking him up in OG- it pulls him into reality irreversibly. True, he keeps up the facade a while longer, and he does get controlled again, but he's never the same as he had been in disc 1 ever again, and that's before the Mako poisoning.

So in this context, to me, Sephiroth, wielding Jenova isntead of the other way around represent "reality" but only as they see it.||

It's a little crack pot but

I was on like 4 hours of sleep- that does things to you lol

Ah I thought the meta narrative you were talking about where

|everything related to the whispers and multiverse.

I can somewhate jive with what you are saying but I think that's out the window now

Nah firetruck those guys man lmao

the Whispers can go firetruck themselves

Not because I think part 3 will be completely different or anything but

this is gonna be so like Remake to Rebirth. Wack ending making it sound like it's going to be completely different only to end up being 90% the same with the ending being wack again

That's honestly my biggest issue

aside from Weapon what really changed in a meaningful way?

Nothing.

Or one of my issues

rebirth cannot have

a shit ending

it won't get another chance

You mean re3?

yeah
