dw the only bad thing they can still do to me now is

giving Louis a "heartbreaking" background story that is also based on racism because we haven't seen that enough in the game

 

but atlus did a great job with

akechi so I doubt they are gonna do that

 

When this comes out, I really hope they redesign the aesthetic of all the dungeons

Especially the side ones

I am fine with how they work, but I wish there was something more unique to look at other than spiraling towers, caves and forests

lol nah that's definitely a criticism I find myself agreeing with

It was fine for like, the first 3 areas? Like story areas

But once we got to Island land and Ice Town from Dark Souls 3, all the side dungeons outside of like 1 inside a volcano look very similar

Not even just color scheme wise but, almost every thing- look, feel. Some break the mold a but but only the last like 2 or 3 side dungeons imo

I honestly don't mind reusing assets for side content but I think a lot of JRPGs can still learn a lot from FFXII regarding that

FFXII had banger side content by expanding the main story dungeons after you finished them. It's a smart way to reuse assets and also expand the lore of places you already visited

they did the same in metaphor at the start of the game with the cathedral

but for some reason they didn't continue it

Stagger is gonna go at some point because they are tired of the system. technically it already moves into the direction with Rebirth. Rebirth has character builds that do shittons of damage and don't require stagger

I really want a job system in FFXVII that is similar to archetypes

+ Rebirth's combat system with a twist

Rebirth combat system with jobs + Octopaths BP system

but, like-- they would have by now- it's not like they used it in a few random titles, it was in 5 mainline games, JACK GARLAND'S Game, both 7 Remakes; almost 15 years

Man people framing the main party as good guys is firetrucking wild

 

They literally kill a political opponent in a competition that is equal to an election and therefore undermine people's votes and tried to kill another one (Forden). They are not firetrucking better than Louis murdering the king

 

 

The game even points out that they are not better than him

 

I love how morally gray this game is

 

And it's amazing how they portrayed the brothers regarding this because they were the average Louis supporter

 

 

And also the issue that comes with believing into a candidate. Like the game never makes a judgement about whether our philosophy of equality is gonna work out in the end

 

 

What if the party also just makes empty promises or lies to the public because they already did that by lying about the protag being the prince

 

 

It would be such a strong message if the party can't change anything because in the end it's always in the hand of the people and not the party

 

 

The main protag not wanting to kill Louis for a second was very strong writing because apparently everyone deserves equality except for Louis and Forden

 

 

Which also raises the question are we the bad guys if we want to change the status quo of a system that people are seemingly fine with
