Ok, so I've been thinking a lot about this whole thing. I've come to believe that Roxas is actually Ventus. This is my reasoning for believing this: Sora set his heart free, and Ventus' heart was inside of his, so technically he set Ven's heart free, so what if Roxas IS Ventus. The whole memory loss thing would make absolute sense. It just all adds up in my head, so that's my theory. Tell me what you think, and sorry if there is a thread about this already.

And Ventus's body? We already know that its in Castle Oblivion.

I've actually thought a variation of this theory but it makes no sense. My theory is that Roxas is Sora's and Ventus' nobody because it was his heart released but Sora's body.

Roxas is Sora's Nobody with Ven's heart inside him. Only Sora and Kairi's hearts left him in Hollow Bastion. Kairi's heart went in her, Sora's turned into the Shadow we played as, Ven's stayed inside Sora's body, which then turned into Roxas. With Ven's heart inside him, it changed his appearance to Ven's, which is why Roxas still had a heart, even though he was a Nobody. If Ven's heart had left Sora, it would have returned to his body.

How can it return if it never even left? As I said in my last post, Ven's heart stayed in Sora when he released his and Kairi's. If it had left, it would have gone to Ven.

That scene was just for show. If you remember, Sora also dissappeared. It's like the BBS secret ending when it showed Namine, Axel, Roxas, Xion, Ven, and Terra, even though they were all gone in one way or another. It was just to show those that were hurting.

Actually no. The reason why Roxas looks like Ventus is Ven had connected his heart with Sora's heart back in BBS. Then, when Sora had stabbed himself with the keyblade, it released Kairi's and Ven's heart. Kairi's heart went back to her body, and Ven's heart took Roxas's body as a vessel since Sora had released Ven's and Kairi's hearts, along with his as well. But Ven isn't Roxas. The reason why Roxas looks like Ventus is because of the fact that Ven's heart resided within Roxas after Sora stabbed himself and the fact that Sora's and Ven's hearts are connected.

Actually, the reason why Roxas doesn't remember anything from his "past" was because of the fact that Sora got his body back when Kairi hugged him. So since he had his body back, he also had his memories back as well. Which is why Roxas just can't remember a thing.

Xion is not Ven, the only reason why she took on the form of ventus is because it depends on who people see her as. Like Saix, he only saw her as a puppet. As well as Xigbar and Xemnas, who sometimes saw Xion as Ventus in their eyes.

That's just how Xigbar sees her, since he knew Ven. Xion was created after Ven went into a coma, so she can't be hm.

It is as if a man suffers from a severe situation of irreversible amnesia and has to sculpt an entirely new personality for himself.

This, however, would mean that Sora now has TWO bodies: the one which he uses, and the one which his nobody uses (that has taken a form resembling Ventus). This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Rather, it is my belief that after Sora regained his human form (thus getting his body back), his nobody (now lacking a body)/Ventus' heart naturally migrated back to Ventus' own body (meaning that initially, Sora's nobody, using Sora's body, maintained Sora's actual appearance, until that body was returned to Sora). Castle Oblivion in Days is just data, as is Roxas. It has nothing to do with Ven, as Namine created it to test if Sora was strong enough for the memories.

No offense, but I honestly am getting upset that this has been brought up again. It's not possible for Ventus to be Roxas for two reasons. One, Ventus is asleep in the Chamber of Waking (or Awakening I can't remember) in Castle Oblivion, so it is in no way possible for Ventus to be Roxas. Second, recall that in Birth by Sleep, it shows that Sora (as a young child) is at his Awakening Platform (a.k.a. his heart, so it's basically more of a heart felt experience [unintentional pun]) and takes in Ventus' Heart. When he releases his own heart (as well as Kairi's, which he intended to do) Ventus' heart remained within his body (At least, that is what I and many others presume.) That body became Roxas, of course. Now, as I have begun to understand it by the insight of the wiser members on this site such as Reversal and many others, the heart basically acts as a blue print for the person it resides in. As there was no other heart within Sora's new Nobody Roxas, Ventus' heart went into action and caused Roxas to take on the appearance of Ventus, and you can also see similarities in the clothes they wear, it seems to be a mixture between Ventus' and Sora's clothing, though Ventus' clothing seemed to have more of an effect. The reason why Sora had a body but yet Roxas still existed was because Kairi's PoH powers created a shell for Sora's Heartless (At least that's how I understand it.) though he was still a Heartless in a sense.

Frankly, not much is changed either way, beside the quantity of existing bodies (which, in the situation you're proposing, is higher than would naturally make sense). Nevertheless, Roxas fainting in CO could be due to a number of reasons. It could be due to his heart (Ven's heart) resonating with his home (CO = The Land of Departure), it could be because that was where his body had lain dormant, or it could be because of Sora's presence there (although it is likely that by this point, DiZ has already transferred Sora's pod to Twilight Town). It is unclear, in any case. It is, as you stated, very well possible that Roxas' fainting was due the presence of Ven's heart in the castle. And if this happens to be the case, we can conclude that the only difference is that Roxas' body is Sora's body with the appearance of Ven's, and that, somehow, Sora (or Roxas) developed their own new body when Sora regained his; Ven's body remains in the Chamber of Waking. This still, in my opinion, does not change the fact that we can, theoretically, say that Roxas is Ventus, in the sense that Roxas literally has Ven's heart. When Ven's heart was within Sora's body, it was just resting there - Sora's heart was in control. But now, Ven's heart has a body all to itself. If I'm not mistaken, the heart is what determines who one is. The body and the soul just act as the means to make it happen. (On a side note, we can come to the question of what happened to Ven's soul/mind/will/whatever you want to refer to it as. Clearly, it did not stay with his body, seeing as his body is utterly lifeless. Likely enough, it went to Sora, and later went on to Roxas. We don't know enough about the soul/mind/will to determine much, yet). But returning to the original question, I maintain that, in essence, Roxas is Ventus because they share the same heart (and a heart is who someone is, not so much the body and the soul - though, again, perhaps the soul more so, which could, hypothetically, be a contributing factor as to why their personalities are different). Again, however, Roxas became his own person with his own personality, memories, and mannerisms, making him quite different than Ven. From this perspective, they are, undoubtedly, two different people.

And we can't just play the games why?

*laughs* everyone has a good point, really. I do believe that, in some points, Roxas IS Ventus, but as others have said, Roxas is his own person. Hopefully, when the next 3 games come out, we'll learn more about Roxas. All we can say is speculation.
