Why does Ansem SOD use a different keyblade than Xehanort? I just looked at Kh1 and realized that he used oblivion but Xehanort uses his keyblade which is totally different?

I suggest you look it up again. Ansem SoD used Soul Eater, which is not a keyblade because he took control over Riku. Also, Ansem SoD can't weild a keyblade. I could say more, but I'll leave it at that.

Yep. He uses the Keyblade of Peoples Hearts, Soul Eater and a Double Bladed version of Soul Eater.

Actually, they do. Just look at Sora. Technically, from when he released his heart, throughout CoM, up to the 6th day of KH2, Sora was a Heartless. He just had a body-like shell that was created from Kairi's PoH powers to replace the one that became Roxas. However, he was still a Heartless at that time, just one with a body, like Ansem SoD after he possessed Riku. We still call him a Heartless, even though he had a body, Riku's.

 

Anywho, the Keyblade he wields is the third type of Keyblade, the Keyblade of People's Hearts. It's created by seven hearts of pure light, however the one he wielded was incomplete, since Kairi's heart was inside Sora. There are three types of Keyblades. Keyblades of Light, Keyblades of Darkness, and Keyblades of People's Hearts.

Perhaps I should have phrased that better then. Without a body, Heartless lack the ability to wield a keyblade. If they have a body sometimes they can. Eg. Sora.

i sorta agree with the whole heartless with a body can wield a keyblade thing, but i personally think Ansem SoD was able to use the keyblade of hearts because he was possessing Riku at the time, and was within a body that wasn't a heartless that could wield a keyblade.

I suggest you look at the final boss battle, since he did use a double sworded Soul Eater.
