OH NO! Japan was hit by an earthquake and then tsunami earlier today. My thoughts are with the people living in the affected areas (northern Japan). I think they'll be better off than New Zealand because Japanese building are designed to survive earthquakes.

 

p.s. I hope square enix's buildings weren't destroyed. (as well as all the others)

Yeah, found out about this a few hours ago on IGN. Pretty sad. I don't have any relatives in Japan, so I probably don't know the pain numerous Japanese folks are doing, but I can imagine it's probably horrible. Japan's a country full of rich history and tradition. Hope that doesn't go down the drain and the country can pick itself back up. After a huge earthquake and tsunami though, that'll be a hard task.

 

And why's everyone getting all angry at the guy who asked about a KH game? Either the guy's trying to make a funny or he's just curious. No need to go all beast and say, "Oh, you're insensitive! Get a life! Who cares about a game at a time like this?!" People have feelings, y'know...

Yeah, i also heard the news as well. I really hope those people are okay, because I really love Japan and always wanted to visit there. i just hope that Tsuname doesn't ruin that all for me. I heard that over 100 people died during that Tsuname too.

 

Also, Sora96 that Tsuname has nothing to do with 2012. The Tsuname was caused by the Earthquake, and earthquakes are caused by techtonic plates that clash with one-another. So after the earthquake was triggered, it also caused a Tsuname to happen somewhere underground in the water.

This is just tragic. Complete towns destroyed and litterly washed and dragged away by the strong forces of the tsunami. thousnads and thousands homeless. Hundreds to a thousand missing I belive. And a thousand are dead and the number of deaths is expected to rise when they start looking around the rubbles and destroyed buildings. I really don't know what to say. I'm speachless of this really. I just say that may those innocents who died in this incident may rest in peace and may the lord take them all to paradise by his side.

Some are losing family members, and some are losing their lives. The least you could do is stop thinking about whether one game is going to be made within the close future, and start thinking about other people. What if a tsunami hit where you live? Would you be worried about video games, or for your life, or your family's and friends'? Please, just think about that for a bit.

Poverty doesn't kill thousands of people, all at once, in one area. Nor does it destroy entire cities and towns all at one time.

Poverty is something that, like you said, we CAN prevent. Natural disasters are hard to predict, and even if you do, there's nothing you can do to stop them.

 

There are people that, everday, try and help people suffering from poverty & etc. and are concerned about them. They just don't jump up and say "TODAY I HELPED HOMELESS PEOPLE, PLEASE CONGRATULATE ME AND TELL ME WHAT A GOOD JOB I'VE DONE."

Well this wasn't what I was expecting out of the thread, but anyway there was an explosion in one of the nuclear plants and it has a good chance of going into meltdown which would not be good at all.

 

Also, DC makes a good point about lack of concern about other tragedies that occur everyday but I don't think that it should change how we feel and act about Japan.

I'm not saying the people in poverty themselves can prevent it, I'm just saying humanity as a whole has the capability of helping those in poverty, but they don't. In all seriousness I hope for the best for everyone effected by what has happened. I do agree though that people overlook other more smaller things that happen in the world that should probably receive more help than it does. But despite all that the earthquake, tsunami, and all of that did happen and there are people there who need a helping hand at this moment too. In my opinion I feel that both need the same amount of help: those who aren't necessarily involved with natural disasters but still are at risk, and those involved with natural disasters like the one that has occurred. I know personally I'll try to do things every now and then to help both causes, but it is up to an individual to decide whether or not they want to focus on one cause or both (even though both are equally important imo). Natural disasters are more widely posted on the media, so naturally they would receive a bit more attention than the other things that get overlooked. >:

 

Now moving onto another thing--Seriously guys... mourning over whether or not your favorite anime or game isn't going to progress any further due to the event really doesn't do much in my opinion, but I know deep down it means you're just hoping for those involved with your favorite game/anime/etc. will be okay, so I'll overlook that.

 

 

I'll send my prayers and do what I can such as a few charity events my school is holding, but I don't see any reason in dwelling on any disagreements that are occurring. But in all honesty, I'm very happy to know that (hopefully) everyone in SE is okay.
