I get the feeling a lot of people don't know exactly what it is as it never was explicitly stated in the game, and even the door to darkness wasn't explained the best. The door to darkness is the door that allows darkness and beings of darkness to come and go from the realm of darkness and the realm of light. The door to darkness is also something along the lines of a form of kingdom hearts. In contrast the door to light is the door that allows light and beings of light to enter and leave the realm of darkness and light. Back in the kh1 ultimania I believe nomura said this:

---If that is so, the reason why those two are on the other side of a door they cannot pass... Riku went to the other side once he combined with Ansem. Since the King is there as well, does that mean there is another place where you can enter into the world of darkness without using that door?

Nomura: Yes. The last words he left behind were “find the door to light”. In other words, he was saying find the door, other than the door that allows darkness to come and go, that allows light to come and go.

-Source: http://kh-ultimania....l.com/3508.html (by the way has anyone seen this interview before?)

So the door that Ventus opened to the destroyed land of departure was not the door to light as I've heard been confused, and the door to light is not confirmed to be connected to "home." When Sora asks Riku what he thinks the door to the light was Riku pointed at his heart (keep in mind that was such a cheesy, yet satisfying scene there's no way he could be wrong). I personally like this scene as it leaves the answer open to your imagination, and I'll keep my opinion to myself.

i believe the pathways the keybearers use are something akin to corridors of darkness as its stated that use of these pathways i dangerous without the use of protective armor. something entirely different from the door to light which we have only seen opened once and can only speculate its use elsewhere. but what the door to light really is, is debatable. one could argue that its the otherside of the same coin. if the door to darkness is a form of kingdom hearts like you say can too be the door to light? if you think about it (aand as you say this is just my imagination) sora in himself is a bit of a kingdom hearts only really on a small scale. he holds the hearts of himself, roxas(conjoined with ven and by extension Vanitas?), and Xion. Not to mention the connections he has made to all of his friends and the people who continue to count on him everywhere. are these connections not, no matter how far away the hearts may be, a form of unity? a kingdom hearts within itself?

im starting to sound like an Ansem Reports writer...

TerraRedeemed. It does sound exactly like an Ansem report written by either Xehanort or Ansem the WIse himself. The Door to Light does lie within people when they have hope. Supposedly, it lies within the deepest darkness. Maybe the light from people's hearts if strong enough can interact with the Door to Light by acting as a beacon, forming a way out of the realm of darkness.- ending of KH2. If you are right, you're essentially saying that Sora is a key that actively connects hearts from different people and worlds converging them together again into Kingdom Hearts.

Okay...I'm just reading through. You're getting a slight bit confused here, but it looks alright.

The door to Darkness is not a form of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts is inside the realm of darkness, which the DtD leads to. That's what happened in that scene with Ansem.

Also, you're saying a bit about the door to light. Well, if the DtD is a front door, then the DtL is the back door to the realm of darkness. The DtL is thought to be an easier way of travelling to the realm of darkness, because it doesn't seem to release any of the darkness inside of the realm and it seems to be closable.

All of this about the Door To Light being inside people's hearts, well, we'll learn about that when we see Mickey in the realm of darkness in BBSVol2.

i think door to light and door to darkness are different to other people

If you recall the X-blade is a substitute method for opening kingdom hearts as opposed to using the seven princesses of heart which the keyblade wielders of light hold sacred. And according to Mickey and ansems computer "the door to darkness can be opened by the seven princesses." Using this knowledge, logically kingdom hearts and the door to darkness are one and the same. This means that if I'm right about my earlier posting then the door to light falls somewhere in this category along with whatever key opens it (sora's heart specifically? Some combination?) this of course is all pure speculation.

Where does it say that the princesses of heart are needed to open Kingdom Hearts. In fact, how do you open Kingdom Hearts. It's not a door, it's the light and heart of all worlds. The X-Blade summoned a physical form of it, as did Xemnas (The heart shaped moon). The princess are needed to open the door to darkness, in which Kingdom Hearts resigns. Kingdom Hearts is NOT the Door to Darkness, otherwise why did Xemnas and Xehanort not go looking for the door rather than trying to summon Kingdom Hearts?

If you read the Xehanort reports, master Xehanort talks of how the princesses and the x-blade serve the same purpose. The x-blade itself didn't summon kingdom hearts, whatever Xehanort did during that scene did. Dialogue scenes between Xehanort and eraqus suggest that those who fought over kingdom hearts in the keyblade war released a massive wave of darkness upon reaching it. If that doesn't sound like the door to darkness, I don't know what does. Also Xemnas' kingdom hearts was artificial in comparison to the one at the keyblade graveyard,Nomura said as much himself.

Also keeping in mind, anything not stated by Nomura, seen in game, or written in a report is pure speculation.

it's a door called the door to light. it's obviously a door that leads to light. the door to darkness is a door that leads to darkness (and people say I'M stupid)

Tell that to Ven, sleeping in the room of waking. Tsk tsk.

door to darkness leads to worlds that are in realm of darkness (end of the world and RoD itself) and door to the light leads to worlds in RoL .

Both doors are founded from RoD so isnt door to light same as "light in most deepest darkness?"

also if there are three types of keyblades (KB of light, darkness and hearts) and keyblades are connected to those doors, maybe there is door to hearts thats leading to KH?

I think I'll just stick to what I read in the interviews haha, and yes you do sound like an ansem's reports writer. Funny I was thinking about all of Sora's connections being like kingdom hearts is and with the dtd being kingdom hearts and all. As much as it makes sense on the mythological side, I think the notion of it being kh with kh being the true light, and the true light within Sora being brought out by Kairi's letter is a bit more appealing to think about as it keeps Sora more "normal"

Right before the final battle Ansem said "behold the endless abyss, within lies the heart of all worlds. Kingdom hearts!" *camera looks at dtd*. Aside from this when the dtd is closed and dissapears so does end of the world.

i just want to reiterate what ive been saying this entire time, anything i said beyond reports, interviews and in-game cutscenes was pure speculation....meaning I dont know but guesses are fun.

i just wanna say have we not seen Yen sid use Tthe DtL in KH2 after he give Sora the new clothes and the gummi ship
