To me these people are just overly paranoid, "the government can use mind control!" wackos. But people aren't going to take their message seriously if they are going to use criminal activity to reach their means.

But facebook is where I talk to people who I haven't talked to in a while. And some of my friends have moved to another state. Just because he isn't happy living in his parents basement doesn't mean that he has to F**KING Ruin it for everybody else!

It appears Anonymous is launching a DDOS attack (distributed denial of service). Basically they are going to send huge amounts of data in multiple files to the facebook servers and accounts thus crashing the website. It is Anons most popular and preferred method of bringing down a website. It never fails. Usually the packets of data they send are full of viruses anyway. So facebook will either close down itself manually to prevent taking damage, or simply fall to anonymous.

As for their intentions, it appears they are attack facebook, not the members on facebook. Just beware as anon is hard to control. What could start as a straight up website crash can possibly turn into a full out hacking.

According to Anon Facebook is giving all our information to the government. I cannot confirm or deny this though.

And most Anon raids aren't planned so far in advance (apart from annual Habbo Hotel raids) so this is going to be a big one. If you have a facebook I'd suggest making insanely long passwords with random numbers and letters (just save it to notebook or word and copy and paste it into facebook when you need to log on) or back up all your data and delete your account. Either one will help keep you safe from possible hacking.

If you are unsure how safe your facebook password is. Use this website. It's 100% legit. Look at the source code if you don't believe me.(right click > view page source) You'll see that the coding is very short. Too short to send your password to a location. You don't even enter it just type it.

They also have an official facebook page now. I'm not sure what's the best course of action to take with it. Liking it might give you immunity to the hacking... or put you on their list of people to hack. I'd suggest ignoring it for now.

Thank you for clearing up everything! But.....how long will a targeted site be down once hacked? It could take weeks...and most people can't live without facebook I:

Well some people will have to deal with it, to be honest iff people are smart, before the attack happens delete their accounts. I mean seriously, people need to start being social again, people complain about not hanging out anymore, well gett off facebook and actually set a day to hang out. Humans need to be social again, face to face.

I wouldn't say weeks, unless the attack is larger than any of us can imagine. Probably a few days, maybe a week at most. It's only a DDOS attack so it shouldn't take long. Of course they might start hacking so it's possible it could be down longer.
