So when Terra arrives at the Enchanted Dominion and is in Aurora's room, Maleficent, as soon as she gets her hands on the heart, says something like "he said this would happen" (don't remember the exact words). Maleficent collected them, was defeated by Sora and then Ansem (basically Master Xehanort' Heartless) stepped in and took control.
