I started playing Minecraft around the same time the famous youtube commentator "X" started his youtube series (famous being used vaguely as he wasn't popular until his series started) which was around Alpha 1.5ish.
I immediately fell in love with the game and played it frequently up until around Beta 1.5. Afterward much of my interest in Minecraft died. I could theoretically be building whatever comes into my mind forever but across many other creation games such as Garry's Mod and Halo 3/Reach Forge mode I exhausted all my architectural ideas. I played Minecraft mostly for the Survival/ Adventure aspect of the game.
And quite frankly, when you have several forts, towers, and bunker complexes survival becomes pretty easy.
And then...1.8 is released.
If you saw my post in another thread you would wonder why the hell I'm doing this after being skeptical. I have two answers.
1. Haters gonna hate and Trolls gonna Troll 2. firetruck off I play what I want.
So now I'll explain my goals for this series
1. Build my home on a deserted island at least half a full 12 hours in Minecraft time (Daytime or nigh time) away from the mainland. In other words I'd have to travel dawn to dusk 2. A colony established at the mainland for bringing back materials to the island 3. The island will be designed to be as monster proof as possible. 4. I want to eventually find other islands and colonize them, eventually connecting all the islands to a high speed railroad. 5. Will not use other programs to assist my adventure, the only exception being cartograph so I can make maps of my world. 6. I will never switch to creative mode or bring the difficulty down from normal.
So without further ado, here is Fredfredbug4's Adventures in minecraft just open up the spoiler.
As dawn breaks I look through a tree to see that I spawned in some new biome. I'm assuming it is a rainforest but the vines are a new addition.
I start punching trees. This gives me wood. I like my wood. It makes me feel good and helps me get through my adventure.
Luckily I spawned near a ravine with some coal and iron. This is quite a lucky start. Everytime I start a new game of Minecraft I usually have to search an entire day to get coal. For those of you who don't play Minecraft, coal is required to create torches which create light. Monsters don't spawn in the light and as a result you need coal to keep the monsters out.
After the sun setted I Ignored all basic minecraft survival skills I toss some of my spare stuff in a chest in and underground shelter and run off into the night because wanted to get some experience points. So I engage a spider and a creeper with nothing but a stone sword and an iron will.
Immediately after killing those two I am assaulted by 4 spiders! This game has gotten a lot harder than I remember it.
Upon emerging from my shithole (literally) I explore the forest to discover a massive mountain in the distance. I am determined to climb it.
The view is truly stunning. Though I think it would look better if it was on fire. Food for thought I guess.
I look to my right and find my goal! An ocean! Now it is time to cast off in a boat and find an island as far away from this forest of death as possible!
What's this in the distance?
Ah! An abandoned village. It was nice of the former inhabitants to leave this place behind for me. As the day begins to close I make this small hut my refuge.
This marks the end of my first game session in 1.8! Stay tuned for more!
