Darkness, Light, and Kingdom Hearts

Posted

So, this was inspired by a post I just read, but I wondered: We have two views of the world from Xehanort and Eragus; Xehanort believes the world needs light and darkness in balance, while Eraqus believes that teh light is absolute. Both are shown to be wrong in their actions at some point however. So which view do you think is correct?

Some other brain food: In the story Kairi's grandmother told, the world was once all light, but we learn later that she was talking about the keyblade wars and the light Kingdom Hearts, so we can't really confirm whether or not darkness always existed. But do you think Kingdom Hearts is just light, or light and darkness? I'd say the latter, since it's apparently the birthplace of all hearts(?). So choose!

Balance. Light or Darkness with out the other is nothing. A hero needs and villain. A predator needs pray and so on and so forth. Though, balance is usually maintained by itself.

Yeah, that's pretty much my thoughts on the subject. Things in nature usually balance themselves despite (or maybe because of?) the intentions of heroes and villains; it just happens to be this way.

I'm going with Xehanort light and darkness need to be an obtained balance

balance. sometimes darkness awakes and tries to take over, but there is always light to put it back to its sleep. if there is no balance, world would sink into unperfection and chaos. if light takes over worlds becomes boring and if darkness takes over, it would destroy universe, leaving nothingness behind it.

Well despite Xehanort's realisation that you need an equal balance of light and darkness, he's a hypocrite who doesn't use light as much as he's meant to. So that would be why he fails.

As for the bit on Kingdom Hearts, well from the story it seemed like the world was originally made of light and darkness didn't exist, but eventually made it's way into people's hearts and then there were those who could control their darkness and those who couldn't. And the world was sucked into darkness, but then the hearts of children put light back into the world, so concerning your theory that Kingdom Hearts is both light and darkness, I would say no. It seems that hearts are born pure and without darkness, but as they grow older, the darkness of the world seeps into them.
