(OOC: Darius isn't in the room. He's still out there probably turning people to mutants and taking the magic from the hot spot to use as his own.)

 

Ethan strained his ears and listened. Darius wasn't here, he could tell that much. And he could feel that his body was returning to normal. He smirked. "Sorry, but I choose neither. I have places to be and people to see. But I'll tell you that there's no more humans around here. They've been taken, I don't know where...but I'm going to find out. Make sure you don't get in my way." And with that Ethan disappeared into the shadow, with a snap of his fingers.

Skye turned around the corner to join Shawn.

" So now what?" She sighed lowering her pistol after The man disapeared.

" Do you think he is telling the truth? That nobody is left?" Skye looked around, starting to believe him. Skye also just wanted to get out of the hostiptal, it was starting to give her the creeps.

Shawn was silent for a moment.

"Most likely." He said grimly. "But we still have to find them."

Shawn turned and looked at Aaron.

"And what, exactly, can you tell us, bub?"

Aaron let out a high pitched terrified shrill screech. He looked for a way to escape, but a third figure joined the other two. Aaron didn't have enough magic in him to hurt them or run away like Ethan did. So what else could he do...? Aaron bent down at Shawn's feet and began bawling, while kissing his shoes. "Please forgive Aaron! Please forgive!" Strangely he had no problems with these words, as if he repeated them all too often.

Skye looked down at Aaron kissing Shawn's feet.

" Er....." She had no words so she ended up standing awkwardly staring down at Aaron. Finally she looked back up at Shawn and shrugged.

"Well then." Skye sighed as she put her pistol away. It didn't seem like the time to have it out.

Miki rubbed her eyes as she tried to see the other people in the area, and one of them were down at Shawn's feet. Hmm, maybe that guy need help or something, she thought and sighed. She looked around. "I'm not seeing any people in need of help here." She said and glance back at the guy still at Shawn's feet. "So where should we check to next?"

Shawn looked over to Miki and opened his mouth to answer, but he snapped his head back around to stare at Aaron.

"What you cut that out!" He yelled, taking a few steps back. "My shoes don't need to be slobbered on. Just answer some questions, and we'll get you someplace safe."

Shawn hoped that would work. He had enough trouble with out this guy kissing his feet.

OOC: So how was Christmas for you guys?

 

"Safe?" Aaron repeated, dumbfoundedly, as if he had never heard such a word before. To him, the idea of safeness didn't exist. On the streets he was not safe, with Ethan he was certainly not safe and with Darius...he was warm, fed, but not safe. Never safe. Darius was, a word that Aaron's mind could no longer comprehend, sadistic. He often beat him just for pleasure when he was bored. It was becoming a habit of his. And he had the scars to prove it.

Of course, Aaron didn't have the intelligence to come up with a complex lie when faced with questions from Shawn, so he managed to tell him everything about him, his life as a criminal, Darius' plan and Ethan's true intentions. He just smiled still expecting to be 'safe'.

Miki's eyes just twitched as she heard all that stuff the guy was saying. Wow, she thought, just wow. She had an urge to summon her scythe but didn't. She looked over at Shawn and Skye then back at the guy. I wonder if we accidentally stumbled into a nuthouse, she thought, either way, need need to keep moving. "Okay then." Miki said and a few sparks of fire came to her fingertips. "So are you telling me i should eliminate you or not?" She said to the guy

"Leave him." Shawn said, holding up a hand. "Alright, Aaron. Like I said, there is a place I know that we can keep you safe, but first we need to deal with Darius."

He looked over at Skye and Miki.

"Agreed?"

Skye nodded still looking down at Aaron.

" Uh ya, good.... er plan." Skye shook her head and looked up at Shawn.

" Can we get out of here now?" She asked nervously rubbing one of her ears looking around. She was still nervous about being in a hospital.

The flickering on Miki hand stopped. "Alright." She said and stared at Aaron. He got lucky, she thought, but yet again, i have to trust Shawn but i'll keep an eye on this guy. "Okay. let's get to it then. Shall we?" she said cheerfuly. Uugh, she thought, i need some fresh air soon, my wings are feeling cramped against my back. and she sighed

Shawn looked down at Aaron then jerked his thumb towards the way to the exit.

"Let's get while the gettin's good." he said.

As he waited for the others to get out, he felt as if something was watching them. He was about to dismiss it when he noticed the feeling was accompanied by a dull buzz in his head that he got when dealing with magic.

"Someone is watching." he thought to himself, and cast a wary eye over the room again.

He saw nothing new, but the feeling continued.

"Must be some sort of magical spying." he thought.

Skye almost yelled in relief and ran towards the exit. She ran outside and nearly hagged a nearby tree.

" I survived!" She said to herself a smile on her face. She turned back to the hospital and stuck out her tongue at it. She noticed Shawn acting weird.

" Uh Shawn?" Suddenly she heard a strange buzzing noise, her ears twitched.

" Somethings making a really weird sound..." She said looking around for something that could make that noise.

OCC: Great! Thanks for asking.

 

Hidden from sight, a creature watched Shawn and his two colleagues with its large brown eyes. He was a mutant. Just like Aaron his brain had been damaged during transformation and all he could manage to do was take orders and note things that he saw. He scampered away from the group back to Darius to report to him.

 

Meanwhile, Darius was getting dressed in that way that just says "Hi, I'm gonna take over the world with my vampiric abilities." During the Bang, Darius had become a user of some sort of demonic magic. He could summon bats to do his bidding, take blood to fuel his own abilities and control those who's minds were smaller than his own. His weapon of choice over time had become a whip. It would be stained if its meister didn't lick it clean after every use.

Darius left his room to find the hall of what was once a factory. It had since been abandoned and had become his base. From which, he had gathered his faithful servants. He had a uncontable number of servants under his control, not that it was particuarly large, but that it was always changing. Just staying in the hotspot, the humans he had hunted would become mutants, but give them a couple of hours and they would fall like a fly. The process being too much for their bodies to handle. The death count at present was something seventy-four. He only had a few dozen of actually usable subjects. Oh well, that's just the way worked, Darius thought. "At least their blood will be warm for the next couple of hours.

Shawn stared at Skye a moment then swore.

"I thought that was in my mind." he said, looking around. "It feels like magic, but if it's audible...what the heck is going on in this town?"

Shawn followed his ears towards the sound.

"Could it be some sort of bug?" he wondered to himself.

Skye covered her ears.

" Its really annoying." She said gritting her teeth. Since she was mutated she could hear things most people couldn't. She looked around trying to locate the noise.

" I can't tell where its coming from." She said still trying to dull the high pitched sound she was hearing.

Miki looked over at Skye. So, since she has those ears, the noise, or whatever it is, is bugging her more, she thought, i can feel it too, but what is it? "Is it coming from outside or something?" Miki finally said. "We need it find the source quick. from the looks of it, the longer it take, the more irritating it will be for Skye."

Shawn grunted his agreement and kept looking. He stopped where the sound should be coming from, but saw nothing. He swore as he looked around. He then closed his eyes and hit his hatchet head against a crowbar in his pack a few times. He felt the sound waves bounce around. He would have to thank his third grade teacher for getting him interested in nature shows at a young age. Bats were always cool to him.

Using echolocation, Shawn felt the sound waves bonce off of something hovering above him. He opened his eyes and looked up.

"Yo, what ever is invisible." He said clearly. "Cut the sound and cut the cloak."

For a moment, nothing happened, then a giant mechanical beetle shimmered into view.

"Very well." came a voice from a speaker at the beetle's head.

"What the.." she said and her scythe appeared to her hand. If that's a robot, she thought, then who's controling it? Her weapon in hand felt cold since she hadn't summoned it in a while. She looked around, looking for who was controling the beetle. I have a feeling that a fight is bound to happen any second, she thought and gripped her scythe

"Thank you!" Skye uncovered her ears and sat and on the ground rubbing them. She looked at the beetle thing. Then back at Shawn with a confused expression on her face.

" Uh......" Skye's mouth opened and closed but no words came out. 'What is that??' She asked herself her ears still ringing. She put her hand on her pistol on her waist. She looked over at Miki who had summoned a sythe.

Shawn took a step back and shrugged.

"Not sure who or what this is, but it can talk, so it might be willing to tell us itself."

A low chuckle came from the beetle. The voice sounded male, but the speaker didn't make that a sure thing.

"I might be able to answer a few questions." the voice said.

"Who are you?" Shawn asked.

The voice tsked.

"Nope, not that one."

"Then why are you here?" Shawn growled.

"Magical hot spots are, well, a part of my job." the voice explained. "This one is interesting sense those who were suppose to be here aren't anymore."

Ethan was keeping an eye on Darius' actions but then he was also being intrigued by many other things. Like the metallic beetle that was with the three other mages. From the sky he saw all. He waited for action. He had realised that there might have been no other way of defeating Darius without their help. But first, he would wait, just a little bit.

Shawn narrowed his eyes at the beetle.

"What are you talking about?" he asked. "What do you know about magic hot spots?"

The beetle made a dismissive sound.

"I don't create them, if you are reaching that far." it's controller said through it. "I'm just here to make sure it wouldn't be too dangerous. The hot spot itself is not. What is happening around it is."

Yuki glances at the a group of children as a cat and thinks to her self.

"I wonder... if these people could help me acquire my goal...."

Yuki then looked around to see if anyone is looking then ran towards the children to get a better look.

Yuki stealthed around each person walking and spied on Miki, staring at her mysteriously.
