Like the article said, for each time bowser is defeated, Mario dies billions of times. Sephiroth would probably be defeated after the endless hordes of deformed plants and animals overwhelm him.

 

1. Bowsers troops walk back and forth all day long for no apparent reason and in later games, they are prone to random fits. If Bowser wanted to, he could turn the Mushroom kingdom into the largest Insane Asylum. Sephiroth would be overwhelmed by Bowsers charisma and wind up joining his ranks.

 

2. Mario has a huge ass hammer. That didn't stop him from dying billions of times.

 

3. Bowser kills countless innocent mushrooms, kidnaps a princess and of course, Mario.

 

4. Yeah he became a God, Bowser could become a God if he wanted also considering he does whatever the firetruck he wants.

 

5. As seen in Super Mario Galaxy games. Bowser owns hundreds of planets. Losing one would actually benefit him as he wouldn't need to pay Troopas to occupy the planet.

 

6. Bowser is the result of having the DNA of a Dragon, Turtle, and Spike plant combined.

And it's not like any Final Fantasy villain comes close to most evil villain anyways.

This is easy. Bowser has everything you want in a villain: he's dastardly, he's clever, and he always seems to throw something new at Mario every single time. And when the going gets tough, Bowser always seems to have a back up plan, even though Mario topples all his plans anyways.
