New Xbox to have touchscreen controller?

Featured Replies

Key word: 'rumor'. Don't believe it until it's been confirmed by Microsoft.

You can't be as great as Nintendo. firetruck off, Sony and Microsoft.

I just read about this, it looks promising but I won't hold onto it until official. I am actually looking forward to ps4 >.<

I can wait for PS4, I only just got a PS3.

This would be lame if it turned out to be true. I don't care that much, though, since XBox exclusives don't appeal to me.

If this turns out to be true, I guess we don't have four years of "it's a gimmick", "it's a passing novelty", "Nintendo develops baby-sitting tools", etc. to sit through this time.

At least they're shamelessly knocking off Nintendo's innovation from the beginning this time.

Why wait three years to copy Nintendo, just do it right off the bat, and save yourself the trouble.

LOL

How shocking! Another gaming company ripping off nintendo!

I dont believe it at all. It is obviously crap that some fanboy made up to bring attention to the new xbox.

Yeah, I've never really been an Xbox fan either.

Anyways, I will be surprised if it is true. However, I think that the potential is great in touch screen controllers. On the DS and 3DS, the touch screen can be infinitely useful. Anyone who has played Ocarina of Time 3D can attest to just how useful that touch scree is for inventories, and I think that HUD elements should start to be incorporated into the touch screen for the WiiU. Really, the potential is great, developers just need to use it.

tutti frutti. Copy-cat...that's basically what I think about this if it is true in any particular way. Nintendo shows a new console, a possible new controller and an idea on what they are leaning towards in terms of overall capability, and they already have spies on their backs. I really wish that people could be original in their own ways. Yeah Nintendo has their own way of getting their products out to gamers, but why should Sony and/or Microsoft copy every little thing that Nintendo creates. To me that pretty much sums up that they are running out of ideas if they are willing to flat out copy it's competitors. I'd like to see Sony or Microsoft copy a Mario game, rename it, attempt to sell it and try to get away with it.

I doubt it. As an avid Xbox user I can safely say that a touch screen controller would not enhance the gameplay at all.

These are the main types of games that are played on the xbox.

- Shooters

- Racing

- Arcade

- Action Games

These games require you to for the most part focus on it for the length of the gameplay session. You won't have time to fiddle with the touch screen.

Plus we already have the Kinect, any motions that could be done on a touchscreen controller could be easier done on the Kinect, especially considering that it has voice- activation. A feature that Halo Anniversary took advantage of by letting people say "reload" to get the gun to reload for example.

@fred Saying reload to get the gun to reload? Sounds just like Xigbar!

Only thing is that Xigbar actually needs to say it to reload, apparently moving my finger half an inch is too hard but the voice command is a nifty feature that will hopefully see more practical use.

I think that Skyrim combat would work perfectly for the Kinect though.

tutti frutti. After thinking about it for a while, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo showed that console on purpose just to see how much Sony and Microsoft would try and copy that idea only to drop it for a better idea that is secretly being made. If that happend I would certainly give Nintendo props for throwing their competitors off track just to get ahead of the competition.

Has anyone actually thought that this could just be a tablet. Windows phones have a market place which means that microsoft will do what they did with its marketplace. Maybe its not copying nintendo. Maybe they are copying apple.
