I just figured out a little coverup by SEGA... Think back to 2006 when Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360/PS3 was released. Microsoft and Sony wanted it to be released ASAP to the point that if SEGA didn't release it, completed or not, they'd call off the deal. Sega had to release it even though it was nowhere near completed (IE, glitchy, slow, crappy physics, etc.) SEGA knew it would be the worst Sonic game ever, so they made the story go so that the events of the game never took place. (Sonic and Elise blew out the flame of Solaris 10 years before the game so Eggman couldn't use it and everything.) That way, it's almost as if they didn't even make the game. SEGA, you're so sneaky.
