Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series

Posted

So what do you think about this series?

SMT games seems to be one of the few today to keep the classic RPGs traits. There are too much combat and grinding sometimes (Strange Journey).

Persona series are easier and have a more confortable gameplay, also it's cool how Atlus made a remake of the old titles (Persona 1, and both Personas 2, the second to be released this year).

SMT and Persona OSTs are amazing, if you liked Kingdom Hearts Days Xion fight theme you will like it cause they use to be like that.

i love them but like you said strange journey was waaaaaaaay to much grinding i can't stand training in games thats the whole reason i never beat any(main)FF game

Best games in the series i believe are:

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne

Shin Megami Tensei Digitial Devil Saga

Shin Megami Tensei Digitial Devil Saga II

Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3

and

Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4.

In the more SMT style games, I also think Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 are the best. I recomend, they don't have much grinding compared to the others.

I have unfortunately yet to play any of them, but they look interesting, and as my friend got Persona 3 and will be able to help me figure it out, I will be getting it soon.

I've only played the later two persona games and am in the middle of Nocturne. I've liked all 3 of them. I thought P4 was best storywise and Nocturne is best in terms of gameplay mechanics so far.

If anyone's looking into the series I'd say play the later Persona games as an introduction, since the other games are much less forgiving and more combat heavy.

I love SMT and persona games! Those anime style graphics and fighting system rocks. My personal favourite is 3, final boss is my favourite boss of all time and music is something so badass. Story is also very intresting and good.

My favourite persona soundtrack:

Love this series~ My favorite is P4 (even though it kicks my ass ;~; ), and I seriously can't wait until Arena comes out this summer.

They're pretty epic. I have quite a few, and I'm part of the fandom as well.

And RPG games wouldn't be any good without training - it's a big part of the game that requires time - you can't expect to just blow through a game without training.

Maybe I just have a high tolerance for time-wasting.

Or maybe I'm better than all of you. (・∀・ )

I guess you are better player and more tolerant too lol, I got stucked in the Strange Journey final dungeon, I don't really complain about training, it's just that I couldn't find a good way to get stronger. Persona series make it easier because it was cheaper to go fusing stuff to unlock new monsters, it's just hell expensive in SJ.

DDS have many random encounters, but there were more obvious ways to hunt grind.
