Well, going by past experience, Sony copies an idea exactly, just backing it with better technology, while Microsoft copies an idea with something better, but hilariously under utilized. My guess is they'll create a pocket dimension in which all of their characters are real, and use them for motion capture.

But it doesn't have to be so similar looking to Super Smash Bros.

Companies copy each other all the time, look at Pixar & Dreamworks.
