Is it necessary to have the "Edited by" message after editing an post?

Posted

When you edit posts, an "edited by" thing with your name and the time appears below it. Is this really necessary? When I was on this website a lot a few months ago, there was no such thing and it was fine without it.

It only appears if you click the square next to it 'Show Edit by Line'... I edit my posts lots of times, and since I don't click on it, nothing shows up

It only helps if there's a fight or something like that, you know the person changed whatever they have posted previously

I could really care less if it is there or not, but it really is pointless.

Pretty much it!

Nope. You don't need to use it.

it does not bother me at all

I did not know there was a thing that says "show edit by line." Probably because I'm always on the mobile site.

All the forums I am on use a similar feature. It doesn't bother me really. What bothers me about editing posts here is how we can't edit posts after a day. I mean seriously, there must be a reason for it, but it is a complete annoyance.
