Posted June 14, 201213 yr He just keeps getting more and more passive and submissive with each game. I miss the Riku who actually had some fire to him. Nowdays it's all 'darkness' this and 'atonement' that. I miss classic Riku.
May 26, 201312 yr KH1 Riku was my favorite. Riku is still my favorite character, but I'm finding it harder to like him, the more good he gets. He was pretty badass up until KH:CoM, then it all kinda went downhill after CoM. For some reason I think the best rivalirys are between brothers/bestfriends, so watching Sora & Riku slowly turn on eachother was awesome & emotional at the same time. I'd loved Riku when he was on the darkside. Now Riku is just....eh. I guess I just think Riku makes a better villain, than a hero. BTW, I liked Riku's KH1 hair best too. KH2 hair was awful. DDD hair is ok...I don't really care. Just bring back that badass dark mode form. lol.
May 26, 201312 yr To his or her own, I suppose. I like KH1 Riku as well as what he's become, just for different reasons. Not that I'd convince anyone of my reasoning, of course, so I won't bother.
May 26, 201312 yr I used to 'hate' KH1 Riku, but I say 'hate' because it was a good thing; throughout most of the game he's a 'bad guy' of sorts, and as the 'good guy', you're supposed to hate him. I truly began to dislike Riku at the end of KH1 when he locked himself in the darkness, supposedly to 'help' Sora. It never made sense to me exactly why he couldn't help push, as pushing something is nearly always more effective than pulling something. From then on, it seemed like he just turned into a stereotypical, angsty character. And now Riku and Sora have this sort of super-bromance happening that the original, teasing, big-brother type Riku would never allow. I mean, in KH1, Riku was all about beating Sora, as friendly competition, knowing that Sora would try to beat him with all his might. KH3D Riku is all worried how Sora might feel because he didn't become a keyblade master. Old Riku would've rubbed it in his face, and then kidded about he'd just have to try harder to beat him next time. I dunno, it seems to me that Riku has changed way more than just 'developing'. He's become a new, completely different person.

To revert riku to his young self would be to disregard or undo the wonderful chracter development this series is famous for, after the things riku has seen and experienced and tetsuya nomura has openly admitted that he intentionally torutures riku, the things he has seen comply with his damaged personality.
