Thank you everyone for the support, it is highly appreciated! Chapter Four Arigus sat down beside me and began explaining everything. “It all started two years ago. When a tsunami swallowed a
Chapter One
The dry sand pierced my mouth. I haven’t eaten in days. But I guess I am lucky to have lasted this long. The hot sand beneath me stung my burnt skin. It was an annoying feeling, being all alone like this. Soon my hunger overtook me and I found myself munching on the sand again.
Is this really better than nothing? I ask myself. I at least needed some sand before it all disappeared down the huge cracks that ran down the empty beach. Emptiness chilled my burning body as I slid along the ground.
I remember this place, one weekend, when I was a child my mom took me down to the beach. I remember that day more clearly than yesterday, because that was the day this all started. Approximately two years ago I sat on this beach with my parents by my side. Everything was fine, no one expected it. The perfect time to strike. Out of the water rose a massive wave. No one saw it coming. No one saw it building up. At the same time an enormous crack formed along the beach. The wave caught everyone except for me and dragged them down the hole. I was the fastest on the beach and was the only one to survive. Not even my parents made it out. Ever since then I have been surviving off scraps of food while the earth slowly started to degrade.
The earth is ripping apart and creating massive cracks in the ground. Tsunamis are rare only because the sun has dried up most of the water. I don’t think there is any fresh water still in existence. All animals have been killed off as food for humans. No grass or greenery in sight, the earth is now a dried up rock. The population of the human race has been rapidly decreasing. Now that all the food is gone all that’s left is to eat each other. I have denied eating another human being, but I am sometimes tempted to hurt one down. But I have chosen my path; I will survive off what is left and avoid any humans in sight.
One by one countries are destroyed. Now it is survival of the fittest, waiting to see what country will be next. I take every day as an adventure. Never planning what to do next, I just do it.
My ripped clothes dangled around my body, as I stood up. I don’t know where I will go next, but I have decided to leave here. As I slowly walk up the deserted beach I feel a slight pounding from beneath me. It started to get louder and louder but by the time I decide to run for it, a huge wave appears behind me.
I don’t waste any time, I quickly sprint towards the exit of the beach. I am fast. But not fast enough to outrun a tsunami. A huge crack outlines the exit of the beach, but there was an entry quite close which I entered the beach through. If I went for the entry I would never make it. It was too far away. So without thinking I jumped for it. The crack was quite wide and I have never jumped this far before but it was too late.
The wave engulfed me and swallowed me down the hole...
