you have the X-blade, in one of the intro memento's yen sid said the X-blade turned into 20 pieces 7 of light, 13 of darkness.

We probably all thought 13 oh org. 13!!!

But then I thought: no that'd mean Sora's heart was darkness.

But what if Xehanort was looking for those 13 pieces? It'd explain why it was called org. 13 even with the 14th member, and dont forget the X in everybodies name, X from X-blade perhaps??

So these are my random thoughts, let me know what you think

He clearly IS looking for the pieces, but not in the way you seem to think. The Organization never had a fourteenth member.

She may not have been a nobody in a sense but they gave her a nubmer in her introduction, remember when she fuzed with Roxas everyone forgot who she was... thats why Saix doesn't remember the XIV memeber

All right, I concede: Xion was made the fourteenth member of the Organization in order to give her a sense of purpose in destroying the heartless. However, to those who knew the truth, she wasn't considered a full member, merely a tool. i.e.

 

Furthermore, as a replica, she probably wouldn't be eligible as one of Xehanort's XIII darknesses, which was his original purpose in Organization XIII.

 

What hatok said plus you have to remember Xehanort has only manufactured the conditions to spawn the X-Blade. The thirteen darknesses were not naturally produced only the 7 lights were.

The X in their names? Xehanort appears to have either renamed or urged them to rename themselves with an X because of his, at the time unknown, obsession with "X" which means Keyblade,
