Why Batman Has The Greatest Villians

Posted

They all have no super powers. Not the Joker, not Riddler, not, Two-face, and not Hugo Strange. They all rely on their own skills to get what they want. Okay, sure Clayface has shape-shifting powers and Killer Croc has Super strength/Crocodile powers but still, most of Batman's villians have no powers at all. Which makes them the greatest villians ever made imo.

No powers vs. No powers. Makes sense. lol

Because they are all so unique and different in their own ways. Take Joker for example, he is the exact opasite or Batman. Batman is dark and brooding, whilst Joker is happy and crazy. Also, their backstories and personallities are precious.

Anybody notice how they also all have some kind of mental disorder? Really puts a twist on what and how they do things lol

I know lol. You didn't have to tell me something I already know. ;P

What's so great about not having superpowers?

Or, what is it about having superpowers that makes other superhero universes less great?

This is a good question.....

After all, aren't superheroes and supervillians supposed to have superpowers? Just Saiyan.

Indeed. Somehow I get the feeling people sometimes gravitate towards the powerless heroes because they're more relatable, not because they're inherently more interesting. If Batman can do all that cool stuff without powers, why can't we? It might also be because the powerless ones tend to rely less on a gimmick... though Batman's gimmick is being a billionaire with wonderful toys, tons of martial arts training, a terrifying work ethic, and dead parents. Besides, just because you have superpowers doesn't mean you can use them well. You think any superhero out there got where they are from sitting on their ass all day?

Batman has the greatest villains since he's like the "Death Note" of Comics. Even though we all know the action and suspense of Batman, there's a psychological feel about Batman that just gets that detective side of you wanting for more. Tut tut, my dear Robin. You must really pay attention to these details in my most british accent.

It was a joke. I was referring to the fact that while some comics have heroes that are known for their powers or wit, Batman doubles as a Crime-fighting detective. Didn't really literally mean it.

Batman often fights super-powered individuals, Mr. Freeze (technically it's his suit, but normal people can't freeze things with mounted ice canons) Killer Croc, Clay Face (again his technology gives him powers well beyond that of mortal man), Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, etc.

What really makes Batman's vilains so impressive is really the fact that just about all of them are firetrucking insane, and are dark reflections of Batman.

Scarecrow and Batman both use fear as a weapon, but Batman uses it as a means to an end, Scarecrow simply seeks to create fear.

Riddler has Batman's intelegence (or at least close to it) but seeks to flaunt it

Ra's al Ghul has all the training Batman has recieved, with an intelegence on par with the World's Greatest Detective

Bane has the power and single-minded focus, to go toe-to-toe with Bruce Wayne, but realizes he doesn't have a chance against Batman, with his superior gadgetry and uses his brain to level the playing field, and then give himself an unecesarily overwhelming victory.

And Joker is the ultimate inversion of Batman. Batman is Justice, Joker is Chaos. They understand the power of symbols and fear. Batman has given up his own life (both in death, and in the sense that Bruce Wayne isn't much more than Batman's mask) for the people of Gotham, Joker will sacrafice and manipulate anyone for his own enjoyment.

Batman's villains are so powerfull because each one of them is some attribute of himself given form. You know Batman terrorizing the criminals of Gotham is acceptable, but that Scarecrow gassing the entire city isn't. You're forced to consider what the difference is. What if Scarecrow were just to gas a prison? s that better than the times Batman has decieved good people to accomplish his goals?

Batman is my favorite for a reason.
