Kingdom Hearts II and KHII Final Mix

Posted

So, most people agree that Final Mix is better, but I want to know how much better it really is than the original KHII.

Featured Replies

I've heard it has TONS of extra content like cutscenes and bosses

looks like fun to me.

I wish I could play it :c

Regular KH2 is kinda boring

Extra content that makes KH2FM+ better:

- Added scenes

- New and replayable bosses

- New Keyblades

- Dodge Roll

- Limit Form

- Extended Secret Ending

Wait wait wait kh2 didn't originally have dodge roll? I don't remember, haven't played in forever and my disk is ruined...wow they were wrong. Funny how they've never made the mistake of taking it away again...

MUCH BETTER. You get to fight all the members of Organization XIII, and their super strong data forms, which is cool is fun. The Lingering Sentiment boss is another cool boss you get to fight after you beat the game, and he can propose a little challege, but once you study his movements well, he's fun enough to have a good battle with.

The Mushroom XIII Organization is also a new and awesome new feature, I mean, more new and interesting minigames, challeging enough, not only strength is necessary, but strategy, which is awesome too.

The only thing you require to play this game and enjoy it, in my opinion, is to have beaten the KH2 game, because you could easily get around in the worlds (you know where to go, you can't get lost) then you can play the game normally, and enjoy the new features. When it comes to equipping the right abilities, you can easily find a guide in internet that will help if you don't know Japanese like me. Any problems when it's about "what do I have to do against this Mushroom?" kinda question, can be searched and quickly answered by a guide. I remember to have used it a lot for abilities, but that's really not a problem. I bought the game myself about a year ago, and I enjoyed it a lot, because it can be more challeging than KH2, that is really easy. It's really worth getting, but the price can be really expensive if you don't search it through.

Edit, forgot some things:

Yeah, we didn't. We had slide whatever, that it's really not the same thing. Dodge roll really makes some battles easier, since you can dodge escape some of your enemies attacks, what we couldn't do with those extras abilities back in KH2.

And yeah, Limit Form is awesome too, makes solo fights easier than ever. Sephiroth, that never was quite difficult in KH2, gets even more easy.

Unfortunately, the extra cutscenes don't have english voice acting, only in japenese on theatre, that's another new cool feature. But it's still cool to see them.

All I can say is its way better. like a million times better. Just get it

There is only one thing Vanilla KH2 has over FM. Its better for speedrunning. You get Explosion really early in the original and there is no Roxas fight.

I have it and i would say 70% better in terms of graphics, playability and enjoyment :) if your planning to get any final mix, YOU MUST GET THIS KH2FM!

To add onto this, the air slide move was arguably worse than useless, as the move gave you no invincibility frames, forced you into a straight line, the ending lag for the move made a massive opening for enemies to attack, and Glide lvl 5 was faster as jumps can be canceled into Glide almost immediately, and glide has fewer ending frames. Roll outclasses it in every way. Coming from my experience playing the Final Mix (with both Swap magic and through an emulator.) As soon as you get your first DR skill there's absolutely no reason to use slide.

As for the actual game itself, it adds 8 very well made Boss Battles 9and 13 Rematches, close to 20 scenes and generally adds enough stuff to justify the price tag. The PS2 version goes for 40$ Online, though you're going to have to find a way to get it to work on your PS2 (The console is region locked.) Worst case scenario is that it'd cost about 80$/ £50 to get everything together You could also wait for the inevitable 2.5 ReMIX, if you happen to have a PS3.

Its waaay better than the original kh2. you can fight terra and organization 13 anytime and there's the annoying mushroom the secret ending and Roxas fight! you can also dodge roll (limit form level up).

KH2 didn't really need the dodge roll. It would have been cool to have, but you didn't really need it with the massive amounts of defense and counter mechanisms already there.

Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is the greatest video game ever. That is all.

It's definitely better than the original KH2, all the added features makes it worth getting if you don't already have it, and there's an English patch for it now, so you won't have to play it in Japanese
