An online buddy just linked me a blog dedicated to defending characters a lot of people hate.  Xion and Terra are already there, but it covers any fandom.  I can't say all their defenses are well-grounded or thought out, but I appreciate their spirit.  I don't have it in me to character bash, even when the naysayers have good points.  If anything, the more a character is bashed, the more I feel sorry for her because of all the hate she gets (let's be honest here, it's usually a her).  Emotional attachment and all that nonsense.  Hey, I'm a writer and a fanfic writer; I'm supposed to feel some kind of attachment to characters if I wanna do my thing properly.

There is so much truth in that, but I don't understand how they say that Rolo (code geass) is hated. Almost every youtube video which show some scene of Rolo is full of comments: "Oh he is the kindest character of the code geass" Like what? He is trained assassin who killed people without any shame? He also wanted to kill Nunnally because 'he is the only one Lelouch needs' Like how is this character kind?

I dare them to defend Jar- Jar Binks, annoying idiot that started WW2 in space and created just to appeal to younger audiences. 

He has an opinion, and doesn't change it because of "The Internet".

 

I respect him.

Fanz b crazy. When a character has personality flaws, they call them cocky gullible crybabies. When they're generally optimistic or somewhat introverted they call them flat/bland Mary Sues/Gary Stus. When they're female they're b*tchy sluts who get in the way of non-canon yaoi ships. When they're male they're arrogant as*holes who break women's hearts. What really gets me is that, when the hate isn't based on personal opinions or outright lies, they hate the characters for being exactly what they were intended to be. I just know that, when my Manga gets out there, my char's are going to be hated for ridiculous reasons too.

 

Also, WTF?! People hate Terra because of his "stupid pants"?! Really?! I mean, c'mon seriously?! I happen to think the split hakama is awesome!
