I need help with looking for a new laptop.

Posted

Hey guys, this^. I don't get on KH13 as much as I used to mainly due to the fact that my only way to get on is via a desktop. I have to take my time to sit down and boot up KH13 which usually discourages me from getting on. Much my excitement I have found a great device that will solve my problems. It is the Microsoft Surface Pro. I like it because it is a laptop (which I don't have) and it's a tablet (which I also don't have). I plan on saving up for it but I just wanted to get your opinions on it first. I may be using it to do some gaming but probably not a whole lot. Here is the page for it so let me know what you think! :D

It looks kinda cool, but what I'm wondering is where the keyboard goes when it functions as a tablet.

You can unattach the keyboard or it can fold behind the tablet. When folded behind the tablet it senses keyboard and disables the keys.

I would rather just get a decent laptop, and considering the price of the surface could you not get a decently priced laptop (depending on what you want to do there's chromebook netbooks for £229 right now, and tablets starting from £100).

I'm a touch typist, so a physical (non-flat) keyboard is what I need to work on.  I couldn't type on a tablet without being incredibly slow which lowers my productivity (lol, me productive)

See, the thing is, I don't want two different devices to carry around when I can only have one to do both of my needs. Plus the keyboard is a plus too because I can't type with the on screen keyboard very well.

Right now I would wait due to two main reasons:

1.Its a new product even though its made by microsoft it may have bugs with it like the iphone signal.

2. It may be cheaper later because of christmas.

Now the thing is what do you need a laptop or tablet for. The thing is if it is just surfacing you can get something cheaper. So instead of saying your interested in it tell us what you want from a tablet or laptop. The thing is you can buy it but make sure your 100% sure you want it and will use it.

If it is just games and surfacing the web I think a laptop its more powerful but there are some tablets which will do gamming so thats another thing what type of gammming are you on about?

Sorry for the long post

I want it to use as an everyday computer to do anything a computer can but I also want a tablet for the things a tablet can do. Right now I have no smart devices what so ever so I think this would be a good compromise.

We need to know a few things before we can give you the best help we possibly can.

1. What's your budget?

2. What will you primarily being doing with the laptop?

3. What size/type of laptop would you like? (Tablet Hybrid, very thin, slim, average, media, bulky, desktop replacement, durable, extremely durable.)

1. The Surface is pushing it because I'll have to earn whatever I decide on, so about 1,000 or below.

2. For the internet, moving files, media stuff, some programs, some games (minecraft and slender come to mind), and probably some other stuff I can't think of right now.

3.I want a tablet hybrid, desktop replacement, definitely with media, and powerful to do anything I ever decide I want to do.

I mainly want a tablet hybrid because I want a laptop to replace my desktop but at the same time I want my laptop to be able to function as a tablet and only be a screen without a bulky keyboard. Plus I want to be able to get apps (as I have no smart devices at the moment to do so).

Thanks for ya'lls time helping me!

At that requirement, it really is quite hard to recommend the right one for you. The other members here may have better recommendations than mine but this is as close as you can get if you also wanna do some light gaming. Sadly, it is above your budget.

The surface pro also seems to be suitable for you as well after looking through them myself, since you're already recommending yourself a Surface, but don't expect it to be strong as a full-fledge laptop.

here are is an example if you're playing minecraft using the surface.

Other than that, I'm sure other members here can help you better. =/
